Anybody heard of Primewell tires?

Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
I have 15" aftermarket wheels (Outlaw II) on my IROC, and I have been having trouble finding tires at a decent price. Firestone has Primewell white letter tires 235/60/15 for about 325.00 out the door. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
I used to have some on a truck of mine. They did fantastic in the rain, and were great tires for paved roads. Also have a set on a Nissan pickup, and my uncle has some on his truck, and the airport has a set on one of the courtesy cars. They are decent enough tires for the money.

Sounds like you give them a clean bill of health. I have raised white letter Dayton Datona's on it now and like the look, but I am not sure whether I want Primewell displayed. I want them to look nice, not "I'm el cheapo".

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
They are definitely an "el cheapo" tire, but they are good for what they are. Personally, I like the tread design on them, I think they look neat. As for the white letter out/in, that is completely a matter of opinion.
I am talking about the primewell ps850 series tire. That is the only one I have experience with.

I just put a set of Primewell PZ900 245/50/R16 97W's on my TA last month,I can't really tell you much about them but they seem to be a real decent set, they are for high performance and the car handles well, they exceed what the car called for and they look really good, nice and wide, just like the Gators, and a hell of a lot cheaper. So I don't think you can go wrong with these tires.

more opinions on this tire?
Trying to decide between these or spending the extra money on the firestones

Well, I have been driving on my Firestone Indy's for almost a year now, and I am happy with the way they perform. I have the white letters out, and I like the logo better, although I think the primewell white letters look good.

Spend what you can afford. If you are going to have to skip a few meals in order to get the firestones, don't do it. If you can easily spend the extra money and get the better tires but you're just being cheap, get the better tires. Tires is not an area to pinch pennies on if you don't have to.

Hi Mark,I have a set of PZ900 245/50ZR/16 Primewell Tires and I am very satisfied with them.their quit, they hug the road, their W rated for high speed. If your like me and only use the car for shows and weekends,I would recommend these.Me personally,I wouldn't shell out the extra bucks for a name brand.

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
i put a set of the 245/50/16s on my 93 z-28. im happy with the way they perform. they are the pz900 model. then i put 2 of the same tires on the back of my iroc last year. theyre o.k. for normal driving, but IMO the traction isnt good at all when im driving hard. i will be moveing them up front and putting my new mickey thompson drag radials on tomorrow hopefully. the only other thing i dont care for is the primewells are made in china.

They do exceed the rating the car calls for,and as far as being made in China, welcome to the world of imports!!!they still have to meet the US DOT guide lines.

it is hard to find many parts made in the u.s.a. anymore. i would rate them as an all around decent tire for the price though.

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
I used to work for Tires Plus....Which is the sister corp. to firestone (both are owned by Bridgestone)....Primewells are the low end entry level tire that both companys carry....They are what they are, I didn't have to many complaints, if thats all you can afford then go with it....
like Stevolwevol said the Indy 500's are a much better tire, so if you can scrap together the diff. then I would go with them........hope my opinion helps...good luck....

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the indy's, but I have been impressed on how difficult it is to find anybody that has had a bad experience with the primewells. They seem like a nice budget tires, and I wonder if I'm going to be paying $30 more per tire just for the name firestone...

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
Like I said I didn't get many complaints......But it also would depend how worried you are about warrenty and all the lil' things that go along with them...The Indys have a 55k warrenty as the primewells only 40k and so on.....

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
Are you planning on burning rubber? If you are, it's something to consider. I had a set of kumo's and the tread was in great shape, but the side walls were weather checked. I determined they were unsafe at high speeds. Lousy rubber I guess. I replaced a set of datona daytons because the tread was old and hard, but the side walls were pristine. I believe the indys were the successor to the datonas.

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
HAHAHAHA. I have a v6. I doubt I'll be able to break a set of 235 tires loose from the pavement unless the ground is wet.
I want something that is not too noisy, and won't fall apart on me at 70MPH.

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
that's a great question. if they were radial T/A's I probably would, but i'm not that nuts about the lettering on either tire, so I'll go blackwalls
I started a thread about that debate a long time ago

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
after re-reading that thread I started over a year ago, I saw that puma posted that a wider tire would be noisier and hurt my MPG, and both things are important to me
I also see that firestone has the indy in the 215/65 size for $25 less per tire than the 235/60's. odd... that's a big price difference for a tire that is almost the same size
For $70 a tire, there's no reason to get the primewells

it's the stock size. I agree they look a little narrow, but it's what most people who have 15" wheels have

Re: Anybody heard of Primewell tires?
well it makes sense that the more Rubber is on the road, the more noise is going to be there. 4 tires that are an inch wider each... it's worth thinking about

sorry, that's a silly statement. Every tire makes noise, the question is, how much?

If you don't care about MPG, then you don't drive your car 500 miles a week like I do.
