Me + bald tires + rain = lesson learned :/
So I was on my way to the racetrack the other day (was going to watch), It had rained on and off on the way there, its an hour away. So I was doing about 60-65mph while it wasnt raining and as everything was going nice no sooner did I hit a small rut made by a semi. Didn't even see it. I felt the rear kick sideways and knew i wasn't going to catch it at that speed. I spun around twice went across into the right lane then hit a sign, killed two trees and was stopped by the third. Luckily my brother, girlfriend, and myself didn't get a scratch and the car didnt flip. Found out after I had got out of the car, people behind us stopped to help, that hitting the rut actually lifted the entire rear end off the ground . The deputy that came told us that a man died the day before a few hundred feet away from us from his accident.
SOOOO I guess the moral of the story is, drive more carefully in the rain, ditch the bald tires, and thank god for the seat belts we were wearing. Car actually wasn't wrecked near as bad as it could have been and nobody was hurt. Guess someone up there was lookin out for me. Ditched the bald tires as soon as I got home.
Lesson learned Please learn from my lesson, I was extremely lucky you might not be.

I second what you said. Bald tires and Rain just don't mix. Also very glad no one got hurt.
My lesson resulted in 7K worth of body damage, (I was young, stupid and never really thought about what "Could" happen.)

some tires and rain doesnt matter if its bald or not! still can hit a patch of water at those speeds and break loose. If the rut caused the rear end to jump off the ground completely, i'm not sure the freshest set of rain tires would have helped in that situation! Glad to hear you are alright, and the car doesnt look TOO bad from the description of what you went through.

Thanks guys, I'm just happy nobody was hurt, I can fix but my car any day of the week but I cand fix a hurt or lost family member thats for sure.
The damage really wasn't near as bad as it could have been at that speed. Ya i'll probally just get some new tie rods (not broken but their old and the crash didnt help them) and ill most likely leave the car for now as its driveable just limited access through my pass door. I'm leaving in about a month for boot camp so when I get back, hopefully I can start my lsx treatment if im lucky, otherwise ill jest rebuild the 305 for the time being.
Thanks Tim

Did sort of the same thing in my truck a few weeks ago. Bald tires and wet roads around a turn don't mix. Except I hit a band and it went on the drivers side. Only about a foot or two from a telephone pole. Things happen quick.

Glad your Okay. Even with new tires, these cars suck in the rain. I broke my back tires loose, and they were brand new. Went up on a curb across center line back up onto the curb and then spun around. Didn't hit anything lucky, just broke a swaybar link. These cars arent that great in the rain even with new tires just because the lack of the weight in the rear end.
