I've been working with a company who is looking to get into the domestic market. This is the wheel design I like (a computer generation). It would be without the stepped lip.

I was thinking a 18x8 F and 19x10 R set up. They'll have brushed faces and maybe rivets around the edge.

I need to know what offsets would be appropriate for my car. I have a Baer brake kit on it now, but was thinking about switching to EB's 5th Gen kit later. (stock rear axle) They can do any offsets since it's a 3 piece wheel. Any help would be appreciated given the money I'm spending on these, I only want to do it once.

I'm open to other size suggestions too.

You can go 18/9.5 in the front with 6in back space like I did and 19/10 rear with 6.25 back space.

you really need to know how much extra offset the baer hubs added to the car before you order wheels.

Do I just tell them the backspace necessary or do I need to give them an actual number for the offset?

I'm still curious though to what it would be for an 8" wide wheel up front. (0 I would imagine)

8 " wheels would typically be zero offset. But again, the baer hubs maye have more offset than stock and you could use more BS.

If you are spending this kind of money on wheels, I would shoot for a wider front, 9 or 9.5. Give you a better selection of tires and some more width.

You also may want to consider caliper chearance. What brakes do you have and do you plan to upgrade later? Large brake kits with big 4 or 6 pot calipers take up a lot of room

What about a 9" wide up front? What backspacing/offset would those require?

I couple of things to consider.

First see if you can get the wheel center cross section from the wheel company. This will allow you to do your own measurements. In my experience most of the 3pc wheel companies have zero engineering knowledge and I would not trust their answers. Most are simply designers and use one of the big companies to cut their wheels.

Next decide if you plan to run a flat center cap like you are showing in the picture. If so you will need a very large back pad on the front wheels to cover the spindle snout. In that case, you don't need to worry about brake caliper clearance as you will have plenty. I had to remove the excess threads on my spindle and cut everything quite tight retain a flat center cap. To me it was well worth it though.

If this company is from florida, either run as fast as you can or make sure you do extensive research on them before you send money. The Florida wheel scene has given the 3pc wheel industry a bad name the last few years.

Ask to talk to their engineering department, ask lots of technical questions that you know the answers to. Ask for specific measurements. Did they send you a fitment worksheet? How much money do they want up front?

Are you going through a dealer or the manufacturer directly?

As the others have mentioned, I would use at least a 9.5" wheel wheel up front.

Finally, I like those wheels a lot and think they would look great in a 19" all around.

I have a set just like those, only mine are 2 piece and made by Bonspeed. 19s all the way around. I'm on my cell phone at the moment so I can't post a pic. I believe my pic is on page 41 of the Best 3rd Gen Wheels thread. Red T/A w gray ground effects. 87350IROC knows my car.

Yup, I thought of your car imediately when I saw those.

What makes me nervous is Gunny's wheels appear to be from MORR which is from the same town as COR, hmmm the names sound similar don't they?

I'm not saying they are the same company. But looking at the track record of the Florida 3pc wheel industry, I would not buy from them without doing some serious research and probably seeing their operation in person.

Doesnt matter if they're the same company or not, most of them are independent, but they get all their wheel parts from the same chinese manufacturers and none of them are ever JWL or TUV certified.

Morr has been around in the BMW community for a few years now and I've never heard a single compliant about them. That's not to say that there may not be issues with them, but I've never heard a bad word about them personally.

That is fine. I am just trying to help. I had incredible pain trying to order wheels over the period of 6 months from several of the Florida companies. I almost lost over $4k. Thankfully, paypal helped.

I am curious why they couldn't figure out the wheel specs themselves? Didn't they provide a fitment worksheet?

I literally got those computer generated designs from them the same day I shared them with you. This is their first foray into the domestic market and a new wheel line from them, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I think the whole offset/backspace issue may be not as a big as deal compared to the backpad and wheel center cross section stuff you brought up.

There is absolutely no reason to not go 9.5" wide in the front, you can fit them - so get them.

Bottom line is, when you are spending that kind of money on wheels..taking advise over the internet is not the best thing to do. Get out and measure, measure, measure. I had 3 piece wheels made for the IROC and spent the better part of a month measuring and mocking up before pulling the trigger.

Agreed completely. I even went as far as buying a cheap wheel that was almost the correct size for the sake of verifying measurements. Very useful. I have tons of measurements off my car.

Couldn't agree more boys. Do your homework Gunny! The last thing u wanna do is spend 4-6k on wheels and tires and they don't fit the way u want. Some.companies will not resize after you mount them, others will. Thankfully mine did as I made a small miscalculation on my rear wheel offset and mounting pad. Measure and measure again. Then come back tomorrow and measure some more with everything on the car so u know EXACTLY what to order.

In regards to the Florida wheel companies, I don't know about that situation, but again... Do plenty of homework, research and make calls. Rather u be overloaded with info than to still have questions when ur giving out that credit card #.
