Who has experience with toyo 275/45/16?

Just wondering if anyone is running this tire or something similar. I'm looking for a wider size drag radial or street tire.

I'm going to burn my firestone 245s then try these out on my 16x8. Web site shows 8.5-10 or something... M/t states 295/50/16 is good on a 8" rim...

275 is way too wide for an 8" wheel, need a 9.5" wheel honestly.

M/T might want to change that statement, I wouldn't even think of putting a 295 on anything narrower than a 9.5" wheel - that would even be too narrow.

8" sounds a little small

Re: Who has experience with toyo 275/45/16?

Question is - why continue with the 16" size on your car when they are quickly going extinct in terms of tire selection.

May or may not be in your budget, but a set of 17" wheels (17" x 9.5") will aloow you to run a wide 275-40-17 tire with a selection that runs over 40 tires, not 9 like the 245-50-16 or less for the 255-50-16 and larger...

I continue with the 16'' because I really like the gta wheels. one of my favorite factory wheels!!

"quickly going extinct"? the tire selection has been limited for years now 15 plus years.... its not like there going to stop making them.

truth is I do plan on running new wheel altogether in the future. I like 18x9 for the front with 275
18x10 for the rear with 295

the billet snowflake from yearone, ccw, but I might be holding out for remanufactured 17 or 18'' gta wheels.

15 years ago there were a lot of 16" tires to choose from, can't remember how many, but in the ballpark of 275-40-17 choices at least. Checking online just now, there are only 3 high performance summer tires left in 245-50-16 size, the GY Eagle F1 is on closeout and only time will tell if GY replaces it. 2 choices is bad... Toyo stopped making 245-50-16 tires, as did Michelin, Yokohama, and Bridgestone.

Don't hold your breath for 17" or 18" clones of GTA wheels - very expensive to make a mesh wheel like those. I've looked into it and it wouldn't be worth it to sell at $500 each for cast wheels.

Re: Who has experience with toyo 275/45/16?

just so y'all know:

toyo has a drag 275/45/r16 25.75 tall (same height as a 245 or 255/50/r16)

bf Goodrich has a new soft compound 275/45/16 drag tire too.

there may be another brand like hancook or something.

MH has a drag 315/40/16 I believe but its like 27" tall.

Re: Who has experience with toyo 275/45/16?

I stumbled across this searching for 275/45/16 on 8" rims. The t-type and gnx... Guys love running lg tires on medium size rims.
The discussion explained these tires are between m/t and nitto.

Figured I'd show a pic too show the bulge, or lack of....

Re: Who has experience with toyo 275/45/16?

My back wheels are 15x8's and I have 275/60/R15's with no issues whatsoever. I also have gas shocks in the back so they provide a slight amount of lift
