Re: Any pics with 19" wheels?

If you are going to use a spacer over 1/4" put longer ARP studs in. Not worth tearing the car up if something comes loose.

Does anyone here use a spacer or should I get longer studs ? It’s not a track car but a weekend driver

I use both 5/16 hubcentric slip on spacer and longer ARP studs. 1/2”. Works fine

super dope shorter tire in front and 35s are perfect I was against and partial to anything larger then 18 but seeing a 18 with taller tire and then 19s with 35s and how much better wheel well was filled in

Re: Any pics with 19" wheels?

19x8.5 fronts (245 3519 - I’m guessing on the tires right now) and 19x10.5 rears (285 3519)

Ride feels good to me, smooth.

Checked my tires and made the correction on the post, they are 35’s not 45’s on lowered springs.

Any Rubbing issues whatsoever when turning? I do like those rims I just don’t know how they would look on my white iRoc
. Any rubbing issues with the front wheels turning? That’s my big concern. Roads up here suck so I have to be really careful and make sure I had some good tire on those rims I love the rim I just don’t know how it would look on my white iRoc

That looks so aggressive I’m assuming it’s lowered to? Mine is at the stock height. 20 is just too big but I think 19 will be just right
as long as I have no rubbing With the right tires

yes definitely lowered. Had weight jacks in some pictures and DSE 2” springs in others. I think 19” is the perfect size. But many people will disagree and say 18” is the perfect size. I think both look good though. But 17” is too small in my opinion and 20” is too big.

I don't normally post opinions on looks, especially not Camaros, but damn your car looks good with those 19s. I was (hoping) going to go with 18's on my car to fit over my brakes, but I may go 19 instead.

What size are your front rotors?

i have the 2013 ZL1 Brembos (14.5”). Some 18” will fit and some won’t. The 18” wheels I wanted would not clear the rotor/caliper. I think 18” look good too. I just prefer 19”. Especially when you go with a 2 or 3-piece wheel. The loop makes the spokes look smaller so a larger wheel somewhat offsets that b

Jeff the car looks great! ...I've got a medium grey 88 Iroc, but yours doesn't quite look factory. Almost looks satin. What color is that? Visually, I prefer a good ole 16 or 17, but I know brakes and tires typically demand larger. That being said, yours is probably the best looking 19" wheel combo that I've seen, especially with that big ole rotor in there! Very nice.

thanks! It’s actually a satin dark gray wrap. It actually has good paint underneath but I am very particular about what I want. And the paint job I want is going to be $15k+. That will be the last thing I do once the car is “done”. The wrap holds me over until then. This is what the car looked like before I started working on it.

That doesn't bode well for my hope for 18's then, my rotors will be 15". We'll see what Forgeline says though then I start the order process.

ahhhh....I wondered if it was a wrap! -I'm in the sign industry, and I've considered wrapping mine. The paint isn't good enough to wrap without some work, plus I think the idea of a properly built, but worn out looking Iroc would be pretty cool.

Of course whenever I check out to wheels that’s like 19 x 9 1/2 eith. 5x120 bolt pattern and always says it doesn’t fit. Does it need to be exact to what Chevy says? Pretty sure it’s 5x120

only one way to find out. Which car did the 15” rotors come from? It’s all overkill for these cars to have brakes this big.

you can get adaptors to convert bolt patterns. Our cars are 5x120.65. It’s a small difference but a difference nonetheless. I saw there are special lug nuts that can account for the difference.

also, looks for wheels that fit new corvettes/camaros. Same lug pattern but you can add spacers/adapters.

Re: Any pics with 19" wheels?

Car looks great, Jeff. I'd have guessed it had been dipped, but wrapped was my next guess. Peel/dip coatings are getting huge. DIY painters can have fun with all of the color-shifting, dip coatings, always experimenting, spraying, peeling and respraying, changing it as often as he is so inspired. Great videos on youtube from a company called Dip Your Car. Hours of binge-watching fun. Looks great for graphics, too. In one video they spray a beautiful car to make it look like a rusty "barn find." Abubaca could probably have great fun with dip coatings on his new project.

But back on topic, as "recently" as 2005, the Corvette was just getting 18" wheels, and anything larger than 17" on a 3rdgen was considered taboo... or worse. Nowadays, 18" seems to be becoming the most popular upgrade, likely inspired by the BIG brake upgrades of today. True, such large brakes are overkill, but such large wheels need those large brakes, and a good stance, to balance a car's appearance. And you've set yours up beautifully with 19" wheels, Jeff. Even the black license plate is a fitting "detail," not the typical eyesore.

So now it's 18", with 19" growing in popularity. But 20"? At some point it will get too difficult to keep everything in proportion. But we'll probably start seeing it sooner, than later.

Re: Any pics with 19" wheels?

I am building a ground up resto mod 91Z28 and was thinking I would need to go with 20" or so to get the look I want. 19s might be the answer. The gray car looks amazing.
Great job.
I am getting brakes from Bear most likely. Biggest that will fit, but this will be a show car 99% of the time. Air ride and all.

Looks like you went with ZR1 calipers. Keeping it all GM, was that the angle? I really like the look of the old C6 Z06 Calipers but they are complex and expensive for what you get.

Thanks man! Yeah, I'm building a "Protouring" car so some of the stuff is more for show and not necessarily "needed". The brakes are definitely overkill. And yes, I definitely pay attention to certain details. The plate color scheme was a deliberate decision. Also did some little things like added my own custom "IROC-Z" emblems to the Brembos. Little things that most people don't notice until they really look closely. And I agree, on wheel size. I think 19" is as big as you can go before you really start messing with ride/looks due to tire choices.

They're actually Brembos from a 2013 ZL1. I had a salvaged 2013 ZL1 that I was going to swap the LSA/TR6060 and Brembos into my car. I ditched that project and the only thing I kept was the Brembos. Ended up going with a 427 small block to keep on theme with the "IROC-ZL1" (yes I know the original ZL1 was a big block haha). As far brakes, i would find some GM Brembos. So easy to adapt to these cars. I don't like any branding on my cars so I try to keep everything looking as if it would come from the factory that way. So no "Baer", "UMI", "TPIS" emblems etc. I actually went through all the effort to have the TPIS emblem machined off my miniram and then when my monoblade TB showed up, it had TPIS engraved on the top So now I have to decide what I'll be doing with that.

They look like American Racing AR924 wheels.
I have them in 18", put them on last spring. You will need spacers. If you have a 4th gen rear end you won't need spacers on the back... My car needs a drop but that's coming.

did those American racing wheels fit stock? Or did you have to make any adjustments? Those are the wheels I planned on running and all these websites tell me it won’t fit so I was just curious.

Thanks Jeff. I tried to PM you but i guess i can't yet.
I need to order the rear end for my project and i was going to go with a Ford 9" and i can get it custom sized. I was wondering what rear end your running and how the wheels fit? Any spacers or anything?

yes it had massive 3” spacers on the back. 2” on the front. The wheels definitely aren’t meant for these cars. They were meant to be a holdover until I bought some custom wheels but then sold the car before I ever got around to it. If you REALLY wanted these wheels then you could maybe do a 4th Gen width and then run a 1” spacer. I wouldn’t recommend doing a full 3” wider on each side bc then you’re locked into that if you ever decide to upgrade later on. But I’d simply just drop the $3-4k for custom wheels up front if you can. Plenty of options out there that are similar to the AR924 in appearance.

had to edit my reply. Thought you were just repeating what I said and realized I typed my message wrong. I definitely would not recommend widening to 3”

Variant Helium semi-gloss rims
19x8.5 +0mm offset front (255/35 tires), 19x10 +12mm offset rear (295/30 tires)

I did roll the fender and used the 'hammer' menthod in the wheel well but i am not sure if I had too. I did while waiting for rims to be delivered and before I had the car painted.

those look like a great option and the right bolt pattern. Good to know these exist for the next build. Did they bolt right up or did you need spacers?
