Ya i did the same yesterday. Man its a nice differance on my little RS. Granted part of it is the fact that my old filter needed to be changed, but it can't all be from that. Not to mention, i am useing the stock air box setup and the damn thing is louder than it was under acceleration. Deffinantly worth the $40.

did a run with stock filter tonight, then threw in a brand new K&N in my TBI car. picked up ~.1 sec(2 runs) and a little mph. Not bad for $40. Not quite like headers, but still noticable.

15.902 @86.73 mph stock filter

15.772 @86.98 mph
15.763 @87.22 mph 2nd and 3rd with K&N filter

60' w/in .06 of each other

I didnt feel any difference in my car with k&n. Maybe if I woulda taken it to the track but its too late. You would also think...the stock filter is usually thinner and lets more air thru therefore not suffercating your intake like k&n. The k&n seems to be more thicker than my old filters.

There's no way a K&N can = a cat-back performance wise, I just don't see it happening.

Did anybody have to richen up the carb when they added the K&N? My K&N made a difference also, but now at WOT the engine pings like crazy. (I added a dual snorkel air cleaner plus the K&N, so I'm not sure the problem is entirely from the K&N). I've been told to try switching from Union 76 to Chevron, which I haven't done yet, to see if that will solve the problem.

Usually the people that notice the difference are the people with clogged air cleaners or what not. A paper filter will perform like a K&N only for a few hours i have heard before its integrity starts degrading, but there is a difference between modifying an engine and tinkering, and a K&N is merely tweaking and nothing more. They are great to have tho.

I won't list any numbers so this thread can stay open, but I have 2 K&N filters for the dual snorkle deal if anyone want to pick up shipping, they can be the new owners. E-mail if you want them.

I don't see how a filter can cause pinging
