problems with eagle cranks?

has anyone here heard of any problems os of lately with eagle cranks? i'm gettin ready to help a buddy of mine build his 355 and he's wanting to go with an eagle crank. i was talking with my machine shop and the guy told me that there is a problem with eagle cranks. something about chunks of the counterweights flying off throwing the motor off balance and destroying the engine. i have never heard of this and out of 3 machine shops this is the only one who knows anything about it. i have tried to get ahold od eagle to ask some questions but have had no luck. someone help me reassure my friend that eagle is a good product. i have an eagle rotatind assymbly in my stroker and have had no problems with it. any insights on this possible problem? thanks guys

I'm running a cast Eagle 383 crank, and have had no problems. I've got about 80 drag strip passes on it, and I drive back and forth to work most days of the week also. No problems here. My machine shop recomended the Eagle to me - he said that he liked them - oh well......

Later - Mike......

My machine shop builds sprint and drag race cars and he recommended the eagle crank to me. I have it in my 383. No problems as of yet, but the car has not made a full drag strip pass yet.

thats what i figured. i know several people with eagle cranks in high hp street/strip apps. with no problems. this is supposed to be a very reputable speed shop. if you go to the track you see there name on alot of the points racers' cars. yet i have seen first hand 4 of there motors totally destroy themselves due to bad machine work on thier part. forkin bastages. the last one i know of here lately, they said that it was a defective crankshaft and that they called eagle and eagle was gunna pay for his new motor to be built (yeah right). sounds to me like once they got their motor back and tore it aprt for inspection they saw their mistakes and are just wanting to cover their own a$$es. thanks for the replies people.

Eagle doesn't make a crappy crank. The shop might be trying to sell you a crank from the company they deal with.
If your still nervous though check callies dragon slayer cranks.
They are American made unlike eagle.
