B&M Shifter and Shift Kit

I would like to know your opinions on the B&M Megashifter and B&M Shift kit. I plan on purchasing both, but would like to know if there's another one I should be looking for. Thanks guys!

I installed the mega shifter a few years back and I have had some issues with it. The neurtal safety switch can be bumped and the car won't start. The other one is after the relay was installed the trunk popper hasn't worked. I never figured out how to fix the problems I am just living with them for now. I don't think there is any other drop in console shifter on the market that will mount on the existing console.

most will say that the shift is not so good, and get a transgo shift kit.. some problems with the shifter is the cable is weak but can be improved by using the stock one..

you should run a search on the board to see why people liek the shift is not really good, and how to improve the shifter.

Im runnign the 2 stage shift kit and a custom shifter, never had a single complaint about the shift kit. It works perfect, espacially with the B&M trickshift fluid (it made a big difference over the valvoline). I cut quite a chunk out of my 0-60 time and my quarter, about .2 seconds on the quarter mile with just the shift kit, have not tested the quarter with the trick shift in yet. Now I can burn rubber in all four gears on the shift. I would have done it over in a second, the difference is that big, and it only takes about 2 and 1/2 hours if you know what you are doing (and have a lift).

I love the shifter.

As far as their shiftkits, search on the tranny board, and you will find it's not worth the money. Doesn't fix the problems with the 700R4.

Most recommend the Transgo kit.

Do a search. Both the shifter and shift kit have been discussed at great length. Personally I think the Megashifter is a worthless underengineered piece of sh*t. If I didn't convert to a 5 speed I would have gone back to the stock shifter.

A few times I've written an in-depth laundry list of all the bullsh*t problems I had with that piece of crap, but I don't feel like typing it all again.

Wow, I never knew it could cause someone that much grief. I'll do a search and check it out. Thanks for the replies.

I've had no problems with my mega shifter. One thing I'd recommend is bolting the shifter in rather then screwing it in. I'm planning on doing this as soon as the snows gone. For the love of *** summer get here soon.

I love the B&M Ratchet shifter, no problems at all. Install is kind of a pain, but no big deal. One problem is the metal shift **** will get hot in the summer time and burn the crap out of your hand.

Well s**t happens man. If thats the least of your problems it sounds like your doing good.
I thought the install wasn't that bad. But thus is world of high performance.

The **** is no big deal, it's easily fixed. I was just giving others a fair warning. And ya, the install could be a lot worse.
