I have an 86 Z with a 350 what kind of power increase on average would i get with supercharger? what kind are you guys using? would i need a 4th Gen tranny? whats your opinion on superchargers?

 

If I could turn back the clock on my car I would have bought a 305 car with a 5 speed (and thicker head gaskets) and dropped a blower on it. Less engine hassles with this. Stick to a centrifugal sytle like a Paxton or Powerdyne.

With the stock 6psi of boost from a Paxton your 350 (bone stock) should make about 320hp. To raise the boost all you have to do is swap the drive pulley for a smaller one. 10-12psi should get you 360hp easily.

As for other parts. You'll need bigger injectors, stronger u-joints, and a driveshaft loop. A well built 700-R4 will handle 400hp. The stock lower end will handle the horsepower if you don't beat on it all the time.

Go for Vortech or ATI....Do a search on the board and you will find alot of post about them.
