question about STB's

I'm wanting to get stb's (strut tower braces) for my 86' bird. The only thing is, does anyone have them installed on a carbureted bird/camaro? I've seen them under the hood of TPI's with no clearance problems. Will they fit alright if u have a carbureted engine. Any input or pics of the install would help. Just wanna make sure I'm going to have clearance before I buy them.

I've seen a few people make the Jamex one fit on a carbed/TBI application. Edelbrock makes them speciffically for a carbed/TBI application, and I think Spohn does too. My edelbrock STB hits my hood. I don't have the hood insulation on currenty - and frankly I don't know if the hood will shut when I install it w/o some tweaking.

My hood isn't bent ,I'm not the first person w/ a TPI STB from Edelbrock that doesn't fit right. There was another STB thread about a month ago where a few other people stated they had some clearance problems. He has a carbed engine from the sounds of it - maybe that one fits better than the TPI one.

My Edelbrock #5227 fits fine..but I have a glass Cervini Ram Air Hood that gives me an extra 2.5"-3" of clearance so that helps. Here is a pic anyway to maybe better help answer your question.Remember that a 'Bird hood runs lower than a Camaro's so you may run into clearance issues.
