Does anyone know if you can get the torquer heads (58cc) in an angle plug instead of straight, and do I need angled I have headers on my 305.. Also what do you guys think about using the toquer 58cc heads on a 305 (335 stroker) bored 30 over, Super ram intake manifold, 52mm TB, not sure what cam yet, edelbrock headers, 22lb injectors, AFPR, ram air intake, accel high flow runners, ported and polished plenum, and a few other mods.. Most of this stuff is already done but im now woundering what heads and cam.. Also, I bought my car with SLP runners on it( I belive) they look like slp's.. Should I stick with them or go with the accel high flow.. Just curious on peoples comments that might help me out in my project.. Thanks everyone...

I have a set coming for my 350.From what I"ve gathered they are a great heads for the street ,low and midrange torque.Good flow up to about 6000 rpm.I was gonna have the stock heads built but decided against that.

Hey Cam, what made you decide a 305 head for the 350? I have thought the same thing, but just wanna know what actual reason is there i shouldnt. Post a response as to how well it works.

if u get those heads let me know please, i've ben thinkin about biulding a 335 myslf with similar setup. but still not sure on the heads, swap to vortech, have stock ones redone, or torquer heads. i'm also thinkin of the LT4 hotcam

Im gonna be the first to say this, but why bother with a 335? You can build a 350 or 383 cheaper and have more power, more cubes, and bigger valves for more flow?
wow a 350? who would have ever thought of that..... I don't believe I asked anything about a 350 or 383.. i have a car with a 350 already and on this one I am building up my 305 for the challenge of making a fast 305... Why does everyone have to say that every time someone on here says they are going to do something to their 305? Thank you for not answering a single question I had.................. And thank you to everyone else who was actually trying to be helpful....

Hey Im just looking out for my fellow thirdgenners. To rebuild a 350 is cheaper than to build a 305, and its faster. Honestly, unless you crack the engine no one is going to know that its not a 305. I just think if you would go to all the trouble of building a 335, why not have 15 more cubes, better flowing heads (bigger valves) and a more reliable motor.
Hey, be different if you wish, but as someone with no money (college student) Id rather have my cake and eat it to (more cubes and more cash in pocket).

A 335 built exactly as a 350 will not beat it. Sorry, no way. More cubes=more air taken in=more power.i want to say i got a 305 that just beat ur 350, but thats just me.

More people build 305's than 350's i would say on this board with that exact same quote "i want to be original and make a 305 fast"Originally posted by DreamState21x

here are some problems with a fast 305:
the bore sucks on a 305
you cannot run large valves on a 305
stroking a 305 means you are taking an engine with an already not big enough bore and giving it an even longer stroke. The 9 second 305 car everyone worships isnt even a real 305, its a 4" bore motor. Im sorry, not many people build 383's, too many people build 305's. instead of being able to beat a few mild 350's, build a 383 and beat anything on the road

your right, more thirdgen owners build 305s. well, that's probably cuz there were like 30 some 305's made to every 1 350 made. I am in favor of building a 305 if that's what the car has. if u can get a 350, go for it. 350 will make more power but u can still get a 305 to run. if i recall, the newest issue of GM High tech performance had and article on "blue thunder" running 14.26 with a 89 Formula 305 5 spd with stock 9 bolt gears. 145,000 miles and on the used stock tires. only mods beeing exhaust, air foil, K&N's and lil stuff like that. if u spend the cash in all the right ways, you'll find yourself surprising some 350 owners.

i'm gonna do one of two in the summer-
1-take my 305-have heads worked,cam,headers,port intake for a 275hp combo.
2-get l98 and put vortech heads and base on it along w lt4 valvetrain and lt4 hotcam ported intake and full exhaust

dude, i've gpot 275 horse on a stock bottom end and stock heads... your looking to hit 325 if your gonna do all that work to a 305.
I say go for it, there is nothing wrong with a 305, and if you arent gonna be satisfied with only 325 horse, slap a sc'r on it. A friend of mine ha sa 91 camaro 305 rs, completely stock except for the exhaust and the charger and he's putting down 388 horse to the wheels with 12lbs of boost... stock short block runs great, no smoke, 100k on the motor...
305's run, i know- cuz i do a lot of surprising with mine!
here's the dyno chart for me- http://pages.cthome.net/ssoares/webfolder/dynochart.jpg
in figuering 15% drivetrain loss, i'm at 275 horse and 310 torque at the crank.

thats where i've been looking but vortech heads are 64cc cambers so i don't think i'm gonna use them on a 305, i kinda am starting to like the torquer heads, for 370each.
Supreme Member
ahhhh that right.. damn forgot about the 305 deal... yeah they wouldnt be any good for a 305....
torquers are good heads tho- my buddy chris has em on his camaro- thing pulls HARD.

i'm looking at doing
ram jet cam, gm roller lifters and pushrods, 1.6 stamped fm rockers, gm timing chain and milf porting of the base and plenum, along with the addition of hooker/headman/edelbrock headers.
i plan on doing all of the listed above at the same time but still undecided wit the heads, i was planning on reworking stock heads but then got prices and found out to be aout 400 a head. so for 800 i could have reworked heads or for about 750 i could have torquer heads. do the world heads need new valve covers or can i use the stock ones over.
