ken wells performance down here in orlando is good. might also look up hpa out of illinois.

if you're making any good amount of power, give up the 700 and get a th400. Easy swap but will require a new torque arm and driveshaft along with a new crossmember.

Pro Built Automatics

do a search for Pro Built Automatics, they come highly recommended, Dana will build them to suit your requirements.

Mine's built by a local shop that's done all the trannys for all street and drag cars ever in my family. - I wouldn't switch to a turbo 400 unless you're going all-out drag racing(as in cage, tubs 15x33.5's...) My 700R4 stood up to a 525rwhp big-block that carried the front tires all the way through low gear. You'll also find 700R4's in a lot of the Pro Touring Hot Rods with steroid big-blocks.

I have a Level 10 trans in my Camaro - love it, but it was $1,600 for it 9 years ago, now its $2,500 from what I hear - not a bargain by any means. I have also heard good things about Art Carr - one of the originators of the hi-po 700R4, but unless you are on the west coast, shipping will be expensive.
