camshaft

im currently looking for a camshaft for my 86 iroc. it has the LG4 305. i was looking at a summit camshaft 204/214 @.050 with lobe separation of 112. is this a good camshaft of is it too extreme or not extreme enough. i really dont want to get a new torque converter. any ideas??

First-Try posting this in the Tech/General Engine board, you will get more reply's there for this topic.

Second-That sounds like it is just like Crane's Compucam2030. Excellent choice!

Hey, I have that cam. When I went to Summit, (its down the street from me) the salesman highly recommended it. He said he put it in his 305, and everyone thought it was a 350! That was enough to convince me! I have'nt fired the 307 that I put it in, so I have no real experience with it. Hope this helps!

I had that summit cam in my 305. Liked it alot!
In my opinion that' the cam the thing shoulda came with, Good midrange power, good economy, decent low end grunt. I'd recomend it to any 305.
It really works well with slightly ported heads, and headers.
