Should I Do This?
Ok heres the thing I have a edelbrock 600cfm carb and performer rpm heads 70cc and the rpm air gap also i have the cam that gos with the package i slowly getting parts for a 350 im going to build, heres my question should i wait to put all these parts on the 350 or put them on my 305 now and see what it does,by the way I have a 86z28,i thought i could put these parts on my engine now and wait till it craps out then build a 350,oh also what hp do you guys think this combo will have all the above and roller rockers headers exaust?please help me all these parts are in my room waiting...

well the first problem is the heads. 305 has 58cc heads. you would be putting 70cc on. thus, drastically dropping compression on the 305. doing more harm than good. so hold onto the stuff and wait.

so did i make the right choice choosing the 70cc over the 64 so i cant puts these heads on the 305 because the compression would drop? thanks for the help

well depends on what compression ratio you want
but the 64cc would've been better. unless you are going to use a blower, turbo, or loads of n2o.

i was thinking 9.5 to anything like 10.2 that way i might be able to run on 92 octane the 70cc would reach maximum flow at a lower rpm right and what do you think my combination would be like hp wise do you see any problems with my combo.?

well building the motor exactly as edelbrock did will net you about the same results. use flattop pistons like speedpro 345np for cast or trw l2256f for forged. that should get you to around 9.2:1 compression.

things will vary. even if you do exactly the same thing and use the same parts as they did. but it'll be close.

more room around the valves to let air in and out. disadvantage is that the air/fuel is further away form the pistons.
