Performance Heads
Performance Heads
I found an ad for a place called Performance Heads in the back of a CHP mag, has anyone heard of them? I haven't called yet but I see in there ad that they have HP GM Heads at $474.99pr.
It reads: Your choice 58*64*76 cc 194/150 or 202/160 valve size, magnafluxed, bronze guides, 3 angle valve job, resurfaced, stage 1 ported(blended off seat into valve bowl) cut for srew in studs and guide plates, *** with stainless valves, pc seals, .510 lift springs.
I am looking for some heads from a 305 tpi to port so would this be something to consider? I am putting a cam with a .503 lift in a '90 305tbi (maybe with 1.6RR) and need better heads. I know those nedd diff springs but hows this for the money? Could I still find some from a salvage yard have all the machine work done and still come out ahead or should I look at getting the World 305torquers? I'm trying not to spend to much on this as I want to save and build a 350 later but this motor only has 75,xxx miles.
Any input on this place or any other place to get heads would be great.
Thanks guys. Later, Mike

Yeah, a 350 is really what I want. It's just gonna be a while to built what I really want due to cash flow. So just thinking about messn' with the 305. And yes I've been searching but haven't found any good info yet.

I have bought those heads. I went with 202/160 valves and 58cc chambers. I bought them for my 350. I got them and as soon as they were out of the box they were on my engine. I looked up the casting #'s and they were 305 HO heads. I did some minor pocket porting and they are great now! Sure alot better then the 882's! But the service was great. Shipping was fast and the people and really friendly. This was nov 2002. Still won't change to different heads. I feel they are a great for a budget. Now if i had extra money that would be a totally different story alltogether. Hope this helps.
