TPI conversion gone wrong???
alright i bought a computer..wiring harness..distributor and the whole intake, plenum, runners, ect...now its all from a 91 350 TPI...all this has been swapped onto a 91 305 TBI...its not running right at all..could it be because everything came off of a 350? my dads buddy is trying to tell me it'll never work and jus put the TBI back together...but im thinkin that i jus cant get it tuned because theres an aftermarket chip in the new ecm...so i cant get it back to factory settings..all my buddies are tellin me it'll work...i jus may need to get my computer flashed so i can get the factory settings back or jus get a chip from the factory to restore the settings...or get a new ecm....i need help asap my dads gettin pissed that it dont run!

yea we did change the fuel pump...it seems like the timing or something is off im not sure it doesnt seem to wanna crank over to well...it has trouble with cold starts..the plugs are also very fouled up...that could be a problem..as for the chip the jet chip i have doesnt work in the other ecm..

yea it occured to me that the chip is wrong we know thats half the problem we jus discovered that when we took the computer apart to see if it still was factory...is there some reason said that like a jackass tho? anyways..the chip wouldnt have much to do with no power getting to the diagnostic port tho...any other ideas?
LOL... dude
first of all yeah the fuel pump needs to be stronger.. for the TPI.
you need a different fuel pump
... you may also need the right chip.
and then... you may want someone who actually knows what they are doing to do the tune up.

You might wanna drag this on over to the TPI board. But ill toss in my 2 cents.
Ok, so you got: TPI TB, Plenum, Runners, Intake, Fuel Rails, Injectors, FPR, Wiring Harness, Fuel Pump.
Sensors ( I might miss a few) CTS, IAT, MAP(since its a 91 its speed density, no MAF) Knock sensor for a 305TPI(i think it might be diffrent), ECM off of a 350 TPI.
You said you have a jet chip, and you want factory settings. Guess what, Ironically those jet and hypercrap chips are no more than a stock chip with a lil more WOT timing. Question is, what chip do you have it for? 305 or 350. Dont forget too, if the TPI's injectors are off of a 350 then you have 22lb/hr instead of the 19's the 305's came with. To use the 22's you need a chip burned that is calibrated for larger injectors. That could be a reason for the plugs fouling. Make sure you didnt cross over any injector plug wires, that will cause a rough start, also how many miles are on this stuff, new sensors aint cheap, but if ones showin its age then you will have problems. Try to give a little more info, but like I said in the begining, bring this over to the TPI board.

Yes, you need to get that chip programmed for your combo. You cannot find a stock chip with the right setup for what you're running, not even the Hypercrap and other off the shelf stuff because you have a 305 with 22# injectors.
If you need help programming your chip shoot me an e-mail at john@lt1intake.com

johns right you will have problems with the larger injecters unless you change the constant in the prom(very easy if you have the equipment).
but you could try dropping the fp down 5 psi at a time and see where it will start to idle without fouling the plugs.
otherwise change to 19 lb injecters or fix things in the prom
eather way it will work
