I just got off the phone with the Comp Cams 'Tech Line', and was a bit surprised at what they recommended for my engine with respect to a cam.
First off, let me tell you what I have:
- 305 LG4
- Non-CC QJet
- Edelbrock Performer Intake (EGR)
- Open-element air cleaner
- Flow-tech 1-1/2" headers
- High-flow cat
- Flowmaster out back.
The tech recommended that I go with the following cam:
CS XE249H-12 (http://www.compcams.com/information/...umber=12-249-4)
I know a lot of people are running the XE256H or XE262H.
Any suggestions?

I wouldn't ever take what Comp's tech line reccommends to heart. One guy I talked to had never even heard of a superram. He also didn't know much about EFI cars.
The cam they reccommended isn't bad, the reason they told you that it would be good, is because the cam is going into a 305. The XE line is about as good as a cam you can find, but I think you'd be off with a little more dur.
