coolers

What do oil and transmissions coolers help as per say performance? Do they just let your engine run longer at high speeds or does it give somegain of gain in the car.

I know a trans cooler keeps ur tranny colder which makes it last a lot longer and keeps ur times on the track more consistent.

a oil cooler will help to keep the temp of the oil lower to extend the life of bearings and other engine componints.

trans cooler help keep the trans fluid at a lower temp to enhance performance as not letting the fluid become too thin producing week shifts and transmition breakdown as the heat rises.

It is my understanding that dropping your tranny fluid temp 10 degrees, increases trans longevity by 30%, considering I have 145K miles on mine without a cooler, (but, i dont drag race.....) I think it would be a good plan for a car that is driven hard.

Oil cooler will also contribute to lower engine operating temps, and increased bearing and ring life.
