VISA Tires?
Hey guys-
Both me and my brother are in the market for new tires, and I found a brand called VISA. They're supposedly made by falken and I can get them for $69 apiece shipped from discounttiredirect.com. My only trouble here is that I've never heard of them, and I would hate to have a tire blow out while I'm doing 80mph down the highway (or worse yet, have one blow out while I'm doing much faster on a backroad).
My other choice is the Falken Ziex ZE-512, which I found for $84.50 shipped ea. I have heard that it's a pretty decent tire for the money.
Any input will be appreciated

Dude it's not worth it. Go with something you know and trust. Tires for our cars are expensive. There is no doubt about it. But take it from me you do not want to skimp there.
My car came with cheapo tires I have never heard of. There ok on dray pavement. Even though they are an el cheapo aqua tread style they are horrible in the rain. Going less than 30 I almost slid into a light post wrecking my car. It's only because I hit the curb and was deflected from the pole and back into the lane that my car survived and was free of damage.
If you can turn up no real research on the net I would say don't bother. You get what you pay for no matter what you are buying. But the difference with something like tires is that your life depends on it.
You could get lucky and find one of those awesome brands sold under another name but I would never bet on those odds. My $0.02.

Actually I had a set of Visa's on one of my cars about 7 or 8 years ago. And you right, I think they are made by Falken. I had no problem with them at all. I have also had Falkens and I would buy them again in a heart beat. In fact I have two of them on the front of my T/A now.

Well, I think I'll follow both your advice and go with the falkens. That way I know I am getting a good reputable tire that won't give me trouble. I guess I'm really not saving money if I have to replace the visa's after 5000 miles because of safety issues

I've heard of Falken but I have never seen reviews of their tires on the web.

I got 4 Visas on my 15's right now. They're decent tires for a daily driver, I've had good luck with them. Be prepared to lose the rear during the rainy seasons though. Once I jump to 16's I'll upgrade to something that is considered more of a performance tire. Unless youre planning on getting better tires later down the line, I say go with the Falkens!

got mine about 2-3 weeks ago 245/50/16 went with these cause i needed tires bad and very short on money (school and what not) but so far no trouble have not been in that much rainy weather so don't know about rain issue, but dry no problems,
so for 70 bucks a piece spending about 300 with tax for all four they are not bad

I just got a freakin awesome price on the falken ziex re512 Z rated tires
$84 ea. shipped, they should be here monday. Roughly $48 dollars cheaper for the set than I could find anywhere else. If anyone else is interested, I can find out from the guy if this offer can be extended to anyone else
