short block question?!?!?!
short block question?!?!?!
I was planning on buying a GM Pace Performance short block. It's a 383 PN#12498332, which includes: hpereutectic pistons, PM connecting rods, forged steel crank w/a 3.80" stroke, cam bearings, oil pump and screen, oil pan, timing cover, crank sprocket, balancer, and flexplate. It is a 4 bolt, and it's about $3100. I wanted to put, obviously, heads and cam, but a combo that matches the HSR. I already have a 88 IROC and I want to swap my old engine for this short block. First, what else will I need other than heads, cam, and induction that wont come off my orignal L98? Second, if I don't want to get into stroking my L98 myself or paying some to do it, is this a good way to go? I feel confident I can bolt up everything else (i.e, heads, cam, induction, accesories, wiring harness, smog parts, etc.) I just don't really have any room to rebuild my engine and this will probably be done at a friends house. Any thoughts?
