Peak Torque

I have a 1986 IROC-Z with a 305 TPI engine that I am attempting to make breathe better. I am interested in getting a CompCams 212/218 Duration at .05, and lift at .444/.444. I am wondering if this cam will raise the RPM's at which my peak torque occurs, since it is supposed to rasie the RPM's at which peak HP happens. IF so, will it only raise a little, or be drastic. Since I do have the "peanut Cam."

Yes, it will raise the horsepower and torque peaks, more so the horsepower peak, but not more than 400-600 rpm or so. The biggest difference will be the increase in horsepower over the whole powerband.

I am not the best with TPI cams, but if it was a carb, you would loose a couple Lb/ft and some street ability. Also you can do some fine tuning and ajusting the degree it is at (ie. strait up, retard/advance)

I'm not sure if that cam will work well on your car unless you get a custom chip. I was told 206/210 is about as high as you can go with the stock chip.
