Electric water pumps

Ive ditched my vortech and buidling headers now for a turbo. I also ditched the serpentine drive as well. The water pump and alternator went with it.

So now Im looking at my options, and putting an electric water pump on is sounding like a pretty good idea at this point.

Im just wondering who here has one on there car. I am looking for something that has some reliability and can hold up on the street with limited driving. I know that its always been an aura around electric h20 pumps that they dont like street duty but Ive also heard they are improving a lot lately too.

Anyone have some advise either way on my goals with an electric h20 pump?

Guido,

The 'aura' around electric water pumps is somewhat of a big myth. I know a lot of LT1 guys running the Mezeire electric water pump on the street. These pumps have a 2400 hr life expectancy. Let's do the math together

Say you drive your car 2hr a day / 7 days a week. 14hrs a week * 52 weeks a year = 728hrs. 2400 / 728 = over 3 years of service life. Now - lets say that you are like me ;-) I put maybe 3000 miles a year on my car which for me equates to about 150-200 hrs a year (I don't drive my car in the winter - that's what beaters are for!). That yields OVER 10 years of service.

I'll be going with a Mezeire.

Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

Mezeire all the way! But bring your visa card. It'll be $400+ for the pump, inlet and outlet.
