Heater hose size?

Hello everyone.
As my build progresses some small roadblocks pop up.
I was wondering if anyone knew if both the hose from the water pump and from the intake that go to the heater core are the same size?
Thank you.
Car is an 85 z28

Re: Heater hose size?

i haven't looked at mine for a while, but i'm pretty sure they are like every other GM car built since the 1960's: the one on the water pump is 3/4" and goes to the upper fitting on the heater core, the one in the intake manifold is 5/8" and goes to the lower fitting on the heater core... some cars and trucks had the return line going to the radiator right below the cap instead of to the water pump..

they had an actual scientific reason for sizing the hoses this way: the bigger hose is the return to the engine from the heater core, and making the hose slightly bigger than the other one eliminated a gurgling noise..
