I thought that Zexel Torsen means that it's gear driven,
NOT clutch or spring loaded like the Auburn units.

You are making me confused. The Auburn unit that is in
my friend's 98 T/A is a spring and clutch type unit.
That is factory. Apparently, from 99-02, they went to
Zexel Torsen driven units ( gears). SLP designed
one that has twice the strength than the factory
units. Also, SLP still does make and sell the heavy
duty units. They DON'T sell the take offs anymore.

The Zexel Torsen units from 99-02 ( factory OR SLP )
are gear driven. I believe that the difference is the
heavy duty one has a stronger casing and twice the
amount of gears in the diff. At least, that's what I've
been told.

If anyone has 100% accurate info on this PLEASE
LET ME KNOW. I would like to make sure I have
accurate info. I am getting all kinds of different
input here. I might even be wrong. This is from
other board members.

Yeah, I wish a waited longer on the SLP ones too.
They are now on sale for $400 instead of $500.
Oh, well. I bought mine almost a year ago anyways,
so it's not like it was on sale the next week.

I don't think SLP will drop the prices down anymore
than $400, but you never know I guess. It's not
a cheap unit to begin with.
