here's what I wrote in the other topic:
I have a question about instalation. I have a 1985 Z28 with the HEI ignition. I just got the box in the mail and don't understand the instructions to the point where I trust myself enought to install it myself. In the boards I have seen conflicting replies to whether or not you use the ignition module. The instructions say to bypass it so I assume that you are right, but what about the people that used the module, do they have something that I don't? Also, how do you actually bypass the module if you don't use it, could you send me a diagram of how to bypass the module, or something that will help me, please.
I have sent you the same thing in an email, I just figured that I would post here to share the info to everybody.
Thanks,
Jesse

this is what you said:
Jesse,
You will leave the module in place. Look at the instruction for the GM HEI 5 or 7 pin instructions. This will be page 17 in the instruction booklet. Any jumpers etc. required are supplied in the parts bag to do the installation. You can also purchase part number 8875 which is a harness that will make the installation easier for the GM 5-7 pin internal coil applications.
Thanks,
Joe

Ok, now I have another question. This one might be a little more difficult to answer because I don't see my car until Thanksgiving. The problem is that I bought the ignition used from a guy that used it for 2 months on his 1994 Z28.
If I have the 5 or 7 pin module like you say,(I don't know and can't find out) then I don't think I have the jumpers. I got the box and the screws and PN 8880(8860?), I don't think that I got PN 8861. It has the conector off of the magnetic pickup, but I think just one. Not to question your credibility, but what mail order catalogs say. How do you know if I have a 4, 5, or 7 pin module? The catalogs sell 4 pins for my car. I just want to know what I need to order because I will only be on Thanksgiving break for 8 days and don't have time to wait for stuff to ship to me.
Sorry, I am making this to hard for you but,I am doing all of this from memory because I already sent the box home from school. When I get home I will figure everything out and give you a call.
thanks(bigtime),
Jesse
