What type of gains, if any, could I expect from installation of the TBI model?

Engine: GMPP 350 HO w/TBI
Transmission: 700R-4
Axle/Gears: 10-bolt w/3.73s
is that the thing that creates a little "tornado" in the incoming air into the engine?
if it is, then its a RIPOFF. i have heard that it actually makes things worse as far as airflow goes.
thats only going from what i have heard though. i know that i would never get one.
