a comp hydralic flat-tappet is only $100, and is well worth the extra $40 IMO

The cost reduction is probably no advertising since every time you buy a name brand you are paying for their advertising. I know that a lot of the Summit Cams have the exact same specs as Speed Pro cams. So I would be willing to bet they are made by Federal-Mogul under their Speed Pro line. That means you're getting a quality part at a reduced price. You just won't get the tech help or the latest grinds with the latest advances in camshaft technology.

I've been using one for several years now without any problems whatsoever. I'd purchase one again.
