ACCEL Fuel Injector Problems
I know a lot of people are running these with no problem, however. I just spent 3 weeks trying to figure out what was wrong with my car after installing Accel 26 lb injectors. No one could figure out what was wrong with it. I tried 6 different chips, 3 from Speed and Performance and finally found one that barely worked, a stock 87 GTA PROM. My mechanic and I were convinced it was a computer PROM problem with VATS because the car would start once and run great as long as you wanted it to, but after shutting it off it would not refire. I called Ed Wright and told them what was going on. They REFUSED to work with me as long as I had ACCEL fuel injectors. They said they have had so many problems with customers cars using ACCEL injectors they will not work with them anymore. They said they also tend to run small (26lb really flow about 23 or 24) and they vary greatly from injector to injector, not close to being flow matched. So I bought another new set of injectors FMS 30 lb injectors. Put them in and my car runs GREAT! My mechanic bought a new set of Accel's also and he had a bad injector that leaked as soon as he started the motor, he ended up getting it replaced but now wonders how long they will last.
Bottom line, DO NOT buy ACCEL injectors, they have some serious quality control issues.

Don't feel bad dude, if you do a search of the board. You will find numerous threads complaining about ACCEL fuel injectors and other products they make.

A lot of people have "problems" with accel injectors.. A lot of people just buy random injectors, and even more random "performance chips" and hope for the best.

I put a set of Accel in last summer. I have been tuning the computer by working with the VE tables. The last two weeks the car will not start with out starting fluid. It is acting like bad injectors. I will let you know what I find. I have that feeling one of those injectors gave up already.

Anesthes, okay, 3 custom burnt chips for my car for my engine with my scans. A shop that specializes in High Performance work including Fuel Injection can't get the Accels to work right. The FMS injectors work first time every time, no problems with any PROM I put in it.
The shop owner himself had a leaky injector with a brand new set of 24#'s from Accel.
Ed Wright won't do work for anyone with Accel injectors because of bad injectors.
Pretty convincing to me that they have a major problem, and that they are crap.
Believe what you want, I know the truth.

The "truth"?? Truth is I have been running a set of Accel's for going on 5 years now without a hitch.
The "truth" is that given the sheer number of injectors and other products Accel makes there will be some bad ones. Even Bosch had had their share of "bad" injectors come out of their factory.
Did you try to contact Accel and get a replacement set of injectors?? Or did you just trash em and go buy another brand, hoping they wouldn't be defective?
Seriously, there are way too many people that use their products without a single problem to make a blanket statement that; "their stuff is all crap".

The point is that you are MUCH more likely to get a bad set of injectors from Accel than from other manufacturers.
The "TRUTH" is that you got a good set. The "TRUTH" is also they probably don't flow as rated and are poorly matched.
When a major tuner refuses to work with a customer because of another companies product then there is a problem. Accel has a major quality control problem. You don't have to believe it or care, but it's still the truth.
Yes I contacted Accel they offered to do nothing.

And because someone refuses to work with a particular product doesn't mean it is junk.
I would refuse to drive a Caddy, does that mean they are junk? Hardly.
I have used Accel products for over 25 years now and have never had a problem with them. So I guess I "got lucky" every time I bought one of their products?
I'm not going to argue the point with you, but you really need to reevaluate your "truths".

Put a set of 23# in my 88 L98. Looking at ECM scan before and after the Accels look to be near perfect for my application, readings are very close to the stock injectors when they were working ok a couple years back. No long term experience though.

Now that's FOUR people I know of (including myself) that have had problems with 26# Accels. Note: Only the 26#ers, not any of the other sizes. My engine would NOT start with the 26#ers. Starting fluid was the only way to get it started. I never found the reason why.... Weird.

I've worked on way too many cars where the problems all led back to accel junk :-)
Im done with them and dont plan on supporting them in anything if it can be avoided.
Bad injectors

back from the dead,
i bought a set of 8 24lbers, for my stock l98, accel of course bought them in june, after i finish up the intake manifold and get everything back together including my t-56 swap it would not run, so i say **** it and take it to a shop $600 later i had one runner bolt loose, and a dead injector, this is straight from the factory i thought that accel flow matched these, i told accel and he laughed and said no way im not gonna warranty it i think they have 90 day warranty for a reason,
i think i want to get an class action lawsuit started. AND GET THESE CRAPPY INJECTORS OFF THE MARKET.
