Fuel ionizer

What do you guys think about those fuel ionizers that claim to increase HP and fuel economy? Do they increase MPG thereby paying for itself over time or would I just essentially be lighting money on fire?

Transmission: under rated for this application

Is that the device that clamps around the fuel line and "straightens" the molecules?

Fuel Ionizer on ebay

Doesn't seem like it work. I'd pay $20 for any MPG increase now a days.

Chemically speaking, I'm not sure I understand the point of ionizing the fuel, since gasoline is not individual atoms but a very complex hydrocarbon. If we burned straight hydrogen then we'd actually be burning a mixture of hydrogen ions and H-H pairs.

And I sure as hell don't think that something that clamps around the fuel line would ionize the fuel.

This thing is almost as much "snake oil" as "the tornado"!!!
The tornado ads crack me up... How could a product, in an intake bellow, maintain a "vortex column of air" throughout an intake manifold's individual runners? Come on, people!!

You're right on every point.
Even if the vortex reached the carburetor it's internals will kill the vortex. A mass air sensor requires straight flow to work as in tended, here too the maff internals (mainly the screens) will kill the vortex.
