Most either have it on the firewall on either side, or I have seen quite a few mounted on the strut tower on drivers side...

I also have my MSD 6AL mounted on the inside (for the same reasons as previously mentioned by 383backinblack), along with my Blaster coil. Since I removed my heater core, I mounted both the MSD module and coil where the heater core used to be:

I've got no pictures, but I mounted my 6ALBTM underneath the front air cleaner housing (which is no longer used because I have a vortech). You can only see it if you're looking for it. It was a real pain to install there, however.

I really have to make it a point to sit down and reply to these posts when I have time to do it properly!! As sometimes it happens, I failed to include some important details about my installation. I've got a 6AL-BTM and these units are a little bit wider than the regular 6AL, so mounting it on the firewall anywhere is a bit more difficult. It may very well be possible to do so, but I simply didn't take the time to do all of the necessary measurements in the "normal" underhood locations. Another important note: MSD claims that one should try to shield the box from heat. I guess I was a little paranoid, but I didn't want to chance a catastrophic failure. The heat of the California desert in summer (which i spend time in each year) is so intense that this is actually a possibility. I could be wrong, but why risk it??

It depends on the car… my close to stock WS6 (LT1 car) saw .2s and .12mph at the track with an Accel 300+ box but I couldn’t feel much of a difference on the street (although when I put colder plugs to run N2O I found that I would get misfire codes without the accel box that went away with it). I moved that box to the L98 formula and saw a similar increase, then when I knew that I was going on a road trip I moved it to my K1500 and saw a consistent 2mpg increase.
In all cases the car has a better/smoother idle and feels torquier off idle and at cruise. Especially the truck which has always been a little rough and cranky feeling down low and wasn’t extraordinarily happy with even the stock, .035” spark plug gap.
I decided to leave the 300+ on the truck and after doing a bit of research (and actually finding an engineer that worked for both accel and now crane and talking to him for close to an hour) I decided that I’m replacing the 300+ and accel coil on the formula with a Crane HI-6TRS and an LX92 coil. I’m going to leave the stock coil with the 300+ on the truck because it should give a more appropriate spark for the application.
The Crane HI-6 is significantly larger (almost 2x) then the accel box which is why I’m asking the question about mounting. With the accel box begin so small I could literally put it anywhere (I actually just had a piece of 2 sided 3M body/trim tape on the back side of it and had it stuck to the back of the driver’s side strut tower), where with the Crane box “anywhere” just won’t fly.

mounted my MSD-6AL on the drivers side strut tower, sticking out rearwards towards where all the relays are mounted. used clay to make sure I had clearance for hood closing. might have to un-mount it if I have to replace some of the relays (MSD blocks access). spliced in a 2' length of cable to reach the starter for batt power. used the MSD adapter to connect to the GM dual-connector coil (makes it so much simpler).
I use the MSD simply for cleaner running plugs, stronger spark, and hopefully it will fire fouled plugs a little longer before I have to replace them on my tired engine.

Mine is on the firewall, on the driver side. It fits nicely there but beware: it makes a constant buzzing noise and it is quite obvious with the windows up, mostly at idle (when I'm driving the exhaust is loud)
The supercharger got rid of this problem though. How you ask? The whine of the SC makes the buzzing unable to be heard
