Dart Iron Eagle S/S
There is a set of these heads that I can possibly pick up for $500obo. The ad reads..
"Dart Iron Eagle S/S Small Block Chevrolet Heads, assembled. These heads have mild port work. They are 165cc intake and 72cc chambers. Approximately 4100 miles, no cracks, no pitting, removed to upgrade current setup."
My Question is, are these heads worth it for the money? Im not tryin to go to crazy with the motor, and and i dont have deep pockets right now. What kind of gain should i see with just these heads over stock heads.
Thanks,
Matt

I'm not a guru on cylinder heads, so please consult more experienced forum members...
But here is my 2 cents...
It is my understanding that the stock 350 TPI comes with 165cc heads with 64cc combustion chambers (atleast on my 89).
If you go to a 72cc head, you increase the combustion chamber, therefore LOWERING your compression ratio.
As a result, you may lose power... it all depends on your particular setup.
Hopefully someone in the forum will be kind enough to ellaborate on what I said.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck!

I say the heads are a good buy they will flow better than stock heads. You can also buy a thinner head gasket that will make up for lost compression. You should see a 30 to 40 hp gain as well torque gains.
