Summit Late Model Distributors?

Anyone running these or even interested in running these? I havnt seen any feedback on them. The one I am looking at is part # SUM-850008. Does anyone know whose distributor summit is slapping there name on? This is for an '89 350 L98 in which the distributor could use a replacement. I don't plan on going too insane with the engine so I didn't want to go TOO insane with the distributor either. I like how the discription states thats it's just a nice little performance upgraded distributor over stock. I'd rather spend $150 for that than $300 for an MSD that I'd never truly utilize. Any thoughts?

Hmm. So no issues with the summit dizzy? I don't think we can use the coil in cap kind can we?

Edit....Just saw that the one you got was a coil in cap. Yea there arent that many cheap (low price) choices for external coil distributors

i bought the MSD for her car, tried tweaking with it
and will be sending it back

car was slower and not as responsive, pretty looking, but slowed her car down, just didn't "feel" pwerful

i tried 0-18 degrees of initial timing settings, nothing seemed to help

Mann. That's a new one by me as far as MSD goes. Think it could've been a top dead center issue? Anyone else using Summit?

Well I went ahead and ordered the distributor yesterday and I just got it today. It all looks pretty good. The rep that I talked to said that he thinks Proform makes the distributors for Summit and that it is definately good quality for the money. The cap actually LOOKS like an MSD Extra Duty and the rotor button also looks like an MSD. They were both red (not black like the picture). The only information i could find on the module from looking at it's numbers was this:

IG-D1980HV

The numbers I found for it are on this page. Just search the page for that IG part number.
Spectromatic Ltd | Catalogues Index | Ignition Modules

The Summit part number for the distributor is SUM-850008

I probably won't be able to give any feedback on the difference it makes because im installing it along with a lot of other things but I will let ya know if it gives me any trouble.
