SS HOOD GAP

Hi all,I have a ss hood from hawks, and when i cut out the front of the scoop,in behind the opening where the grill goes, there is a gap about a half inch high, which is formed by the underside of the scoop, and the topside of the underneath of the hood itself. It cant be seen with the grill in,but i'm wondering how much air will get up in there,if any,and if it will cause any problems.I thought about sealing it off,but i dont want to do that if i dont have to.Has anyone else dealt with this issue?.Also when i put the grill insert in,it was bowing the scoop up at the top,so itook the fiberglass down until i had a good fit,but the grill wont stay in at the bottom. Is it possible to glue it in or maybe some sort of clips at the back to hold it in.?Thanks for any help.
