I have a 305 tbi formula and I am wondering what everyone thinks the right choice to make is. I noticed the throttle bodies arre very hard to come by as well as any kind of decent intake so i thought about going to the carb. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can get around 300 horses at least out of this thing without digging into the block and making it work if i decide to bore it out to a 383 in a year or 2. Any suggestions are welcome.

holley makes a new throttle body, edelbrock makes a intake for your tbi and theres no way your gonna make 300hp without a cam and heads and TUNING. BTW your gonna need a 350 to get a 383 you cant make a 305 into a 383

I replied to this on another thread...oh, you had a double post....
anyhow, you're not gonna see 300hp without going into the motor. TBI heads and cam ain't gonna cut it. Holley is about the only manuacturer out there building perf tbi throttle bodies. I've never heard anyone who gained enough from one to warrant the $. Intakes are available from many manufacturers.

If you are going to build a new motor hook up a big bottle to it.
but really start to think of the things you can replace that will work with the bigger motor you plan to do in the future like headers and a 3in system
I hate when I put a new part on the car and then later replace it again. dont worry about 300hp start to do the mods that will make the car ready for more horsepower. Maybe a aluminuim drive shaft, sub frame connectors, rear lower control arms, poly sway arm bushings.

From my understanding, aluminum driveshafts won't make much of a difference in most applications. I have a 305 TPI in my car and I don't know if I'm ever gonna move up to a 350. I have more important things to spend my money on. But I've for the most part worked around the engine instead of working on the engine, then dumping it for a 350 down the road. Look into subframe connectors, ignition (I'm not sure if ignition setup is diff from TBI to TPI, so maybe not ignition), suspension (lowering springs, poly bushings, LCA relocation brackets, a nice set of z-rated tires), look into a full exhaust setup. That should make a big difference on basically any V8.
Most people would advise subframe connectors first because you'll be pissed off if you gun it too hard and tweak your frame. I'm putting mine in within the next few weeks.

Hello, put headers and an exhaust system on it first. Next install 1.6 roller rocker arms and a alum.throttle body intake, plus a K&N air filter. Also maybe some underdrive pulleys and NOS kit to boot.Theres over 300 ponys! Hope that helps.
