Question about summit double roller timing chain

I put it on yesterday and it feels real tight. The reason I went with the summit chain was because it was included in the rebuild kit. I have never used a double roller timing chain before, so I wasn't sure if this was normal or not. It has very little play,if any, so I wanted to check and make sure I did everything properly. any help would be great, thanks.

Yep, it's supposed to be good and tight with no slack.. That maintains proper ignition timing vs piston position.

It may seem wrong since motorcycle drive chains and bicycle chains require a certain amount a deflection, but tight is right.

Jake's right. Check that timing chain again in like 50,000 miles, and I guarantee it won't be near as tight anymore. They're really tight when they're new because they stretch as they wear over the miles.

From: Monroe,LA,
thanks, I haven't ever seen a timing chain that tight, so I just wanted to make sure it was right before I continued any farther. I guess I need to get off the comp. and finish this beast up today . thanks again.
