Muffler Inserts

I need a muffler that will insert into a 3 inch exhaust that will quite down the car.

The car has full length 1 3/4 home made headers to fit the relocated engine location. The headers go to a 3 inch round to oval Dr. Gas x pipe to 3 inch oval to a Dr. gas boom tube exit is passenger door. All used Nascar Stuff from Charlotte except headers.

Car sounds good, but...
My car is now too loud for some of the tracks where I race. Mainly Roebling road outside of Savannah GA.

I am considering some type of insert since I do not want to fabricate a whole 2nd exhaust system. Space and ground clearence are of main concern which is why I went Dr. Gas and oval tubes.

Any other advise on sound abatement welcomed.

Re: Muffler Inserts

car chemistry makes an insert.. Dynatech also makes a "vortex muffler insert"

search summit racing for those.. ok here

i have the car chemistry ones.. it takes open headers, scream to the person next to you to hear, to talk a little loud and have a conversation.. its the 3 disk ones.. i had a pair of the vortex but i didnt use it, and returned them..

Re: Muffler Inserts

Drag racers love the DynoMax race bullets. You'd have to get the Dr. Gas adapters to go from oval to round back to oval, but you could stick a shortie into the system somewhere and kill down a lot of the raspy noise.

Good luck

Re: Muffler Inserts

I wont be of much help in your question, but I am quite interested in your engine relocation. Please, if you could, post some pictures!

Re: Muffler Inserts

Thanks for the replys!

I called car chemistry today and they were helpful. The advice they gave was to take a reading of my current sound level befor buying any mufflers.

I am going to do that.

If I get a digital camara I will post some pics.

Thanks
