Summit Distributor??

Guys i put a Summit brand distributor in my car and I've been wondering why my dyno was down so low and why i only made max hp at like 5200 rpms? Has anybody had a problem with the summit brand distributor?

Re: Summit Distributor??

I can't remember if i ordered the Summit brand or Jegs brand distributor, but mine came with a bad control module right out of the box.

Next time I will probably go with MSD.

Just my 2 cents.

I buy stuffs from Summit. But If I was given the chance to choose between Summit & Jegs brand, I'm up for Summit. Same stuffs tend to be few pennies cheaper always.

if the distributor was a stock replacement it probably dosn't have the right advance curve for high rpm power.

Re: Summit Distributor??

I contacted there sales department before ordering mine. But was told some parts are made in China, decided to save my money for MSD...The first distributer installed was from Proform, good looking unit. But the drive gear cracked with maybe an hour use. Installed Proform unit when I needed to move my car from garage, rollback, then back into my new place. Thankfully it never flew apart and was still the old 5.0 tpi..Would have shot it with my 308 if it went in my new motor....Hard to tell these days maybe MSD has stuff made in China to.

Re: Summit Distributor??

Yeah, I don't think I'd put too much faith in one of their distributors. Probably made in China, or by Accel, which would be even worse than China. Lol. I went with the MSD Pro Billet, and it's been awesome. Granted, it cost a ton more, but the quality is outstanding.
