CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

Hey, Fellas I haven't posted in awhile but Ive been looking for a set of valve covers to finish up the engine bay in my camaro. Heres some info

Car is painted victory red, As well as the engine bay and the engine block.

The bay as of right now is in the process of being shaved and filled, all holes seams, air cond/heat are filled.

Now what I want is the same style as the Big block chevy 572 covers, In red just like the 572 just without the 572 logo.(like these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NA...8792/?rtype=10 )

Proform Makes a similar cover but the closest color they have is chevy orange. Now for those of you who know about matching colors you know that will just not do. ( These are them and what summit suggested to me http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-141-924/)

Does ANYBODY know where I can get those style valve covers but in RED?

Ive called local powder coating facility's and the cost to coat them would cost more than the covers themselves I'm not into spending 500+ for a set of covers.

Thanks guys.

If you really want to match, I'd just get the Proforms and paint them with the Victory Red. The chevy covers aren't going to match either.

What are they quoting you for powdercoating? I got a quote to strip the current paint off my 17" x 9" wheels (to match my 17" x 11" wheels in the pics below). Powdercoat the inner loop & the outer 5 spokes for $85 per wheel.

With the valve covers costing $200 EACH, your powdercoat quote was insane!

Oh no I think u missunderstood me. My quote was 80 for each cover and another 30 each for them to prep them. That's 220 to coat $200 covers with shipping and all that's nearly 500 dollars and lots of wasted time. Which is rediculous if you ask me. Does anybody know if chevy makes a pair of the 572 style covers for a small block in that same red or if they will/can make a set?

Re: CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

I'd buy them then have them stripped and painted the same color as your car, but remember too much of one color eventually won't look that great under an engine bay.

Re: CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

Block is victory red, car is victory red, and covers will be victory red,oil pan is raw w/clear, timing chain cover is raw w/ clear, heads are stock cast, headers are ceramic coated black, water pump is billet/black, intake mani is powder coated silver, pulleys are raw billet alum as well as the brackets, and all fuel lines are braided steel.

Three out of many things are red, but as you can see the covers are the missing link. I could always do black but seeing a few 572's come through the shop, one in a victory red vette, the color combination looks amazing together. I have to have the look.

I think I will call up chevy and proform to see if there is any way cheaper than spending 500 to have a new set repainted.

Try here http://www.ansenusa.com/default.asp They do custom valve covers in colors and logos. Not sure if it will end up any cheaper than what you've already seen but a few months ago they quoted me $350 for a set of polished tall valve covers with a custom engraved logo.

Re: CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

That powdercoating quote is insane. Get another quote. IIRC, I paid $40 to have a pair of valve covers coated, and that included prep.

Re: CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

I vote to paint them. Its the only way to get them to match.

Re: CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

A very cool new valve cover is avalible now from www.rolandracing.com with a see thru top. Nice cast aluminum with polishing option. I was at his shop 2 weeks ago and he them for the SBC, Pontiac and his Pontiac canted valve heads with more applications on the way. I believe he even has a lighted option, but you would need to ask him. That I think would be cool at show cars/cruise nights.

Re: CALLING ALL VALVE COVERS.

At one time, Sallee Chevrolet used to have 'em in several different colors. I know they had red because I was gonna get 'em. ....not sure if they still do. I know you could get 'em bare too, which of course would save on "prep" costs at the painter or powdercoater.

FWIW, my buddy used to powder VC's for $50 bucks a set, so I think you should shop around more.
