idle
I have a 1987 camaro carb. My temp gauge wasnt working so i brought a aftermaeket one to replace it. I put in the spot where my coolant temp sensor was on top of the thermostat housing. Every since the ive been having idle problems. Do this thing play a big role?

The temp sensor is in the driver side head with one wire, green i think? Do you have single or dual fans? I think the one in the tstat housing is for the ecm.

Re: idle
On mine (87 factory 305 carbed single cooling fan) the fan switch was in the passenger side head and the gauge was in the driver side head. I think the TPI motors w/dual fans had a sensor on the tstat housing to control the primary fan through the ecm and the secondary fan ran off the passenger side head sensor, but the gauge was still in the driver side head.
