Hey I have a car trailer. I had it custom made for my bracket car and a big ATV. I installed a truck tool box on the tounge for tools, battery charger, air tank, ect. My trailer fully loaded weighs about 6000 pounds. I looked into a alum. Featherlite brand but I was afraid I would spend all of my time cleaning the raw alum.
What are you looking to tow, how many tires, and how big of a box?
I dont think you will have much of a problem with th Astro van if you keep your head when buying a trailer.

I just towing my f-body to weekend stuff. nothing major.
what do you think will happen to raw aluminum?
I thought it is suppose to look good for many years? I figure it got to be better than painting steel, no???

Just cleaning to keep it pretty! If you do buy a steel one new it is worth the extra money to get a better paint job from the manafacture (primer topand bottom then paint). Also look for things such as a low deck height and long ramps (ease of loading a F-body) and a removeable left fender (to allow for opening the drivers door). As for the tool box a chest type alum truck box is nice to have and on the tire rack a lot or round trackers will build one to hold the tires above the hood of the car. Maybe you could make a holder on each side of the tool box for a tire.
Look into your local laws about brakes and brake-away brakes (applys the brakes on the trailer if it comes loose from the tow van in your case). Don't forget to get a spare for the trailer. Happy Towing!
