Drag Radials

im planning to build a rearend for my 86 Iroc. im planning to purchase a eton posi unit, a set of 3.73 richmond gears, and a pair of KYB gas shocks. i also plan to throw a good set of drag radials on but im not sure what kind of set to put on. i have freinds with Nedo Xtremes but i dont like them much...so i was thinking about B/F Comp T/A's but i dont know how good they are...any body have any feed back it is appeciated.

These are really good tires for hooking up at the track, assuming you don't have 500+ horsepower. I have some friends with third-gens that are pulling 1.5x and 1.6x 60-foot times (running high 11's) on BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials. You can fit 255/50R16's on the stock 16X8 rims, or get 275/50R15's on 15X7 or 15X8 rims.

The usual drag radial debate is between Nitto and BFG. I went with the nittos, and although I don't have any 60' times, they hook up really well. I've never tried the BFGs, so I really can't compare. One very important difference between the two is that the nittos will last 10,000-15,000 miles, depending on how much you abuse them. BFGs will last you no longer than 1,000 miles. I prefer to have traction all the time, not just at the track, so I drive everywhere on my nittos. In this respect, the BFGs are 10-15 times as expensive per mile than the Nittos.

the funny thing is, me and my buddy had the same discussion tonight sitting at outback eating some cheese fries, he bought nitto's because they would last so much longer than BFG's. I had no idea that the BFG's wore out so fast.

Comp T/A (Non-DR's)

BFG Comp T/A Radials.
They are nice. I'm not talking about the DR's either. Just the regular Comp T/A Radial. For all around driving, I love them! The drag radials are meant just for that. Dragging. Once you get off the strip put your street tires back on.
I'm just fine with the BFG's and they hold the road nice. Never a complaint.

I went with the Nitto's as well. But, I street race alot, so again it depends on what you want to do with them.

I went with the BFG's I talked with other people form summit and BFG and they said there tires last about 15,000 miles. It all depends on how you drive. If you do heavy burnouts every weekend then yes they will wear out, but I only go the track about 3 times a year and mostely do highway driving to the car shows. Believe it or not the 255/50/16's look NOTHING like the pic in the summit and jegs catalog. When I got them i was certain they were not htem due to the amount of tread and patterns. I've had them on my car awhile now and they look fine and they were even good in 2 rainstorms.

I have had both sets of tires, Nitto's and BFG's.

I defintely prefer the Nitto's over the BFG's any day.

They have lasted me way longer than the BFG's and believe it or not the Nitto's give better traction.
