Comp Engineering SFC's .. anybody have experience with them?

Car: 1987 Camaro IROC-Z
Engine: L98 bored .40 (357 ci)
Transmission: Race Ready 700R4
Axle/Gears: 9 bolt 3.70 posi
Comp Engineering SFC's .. anybody have experience with them?
I am thinking about getting a set of Comp Engineering bolt in SFC's... now I know that bolt in's are not as good as weld-in's but I am planning on welding these in ( I know I can do it as I knwo people who have done it)
I want to know if anybody is using these SFC's, if so how are they?

I'm using them but I do plan to get them welded in. If you have a dual cat car as I do you will have an issue with clearance. Just loosen the head pipe from the manifolds and the clamp at the cat back pipe and tweak it slightly to get about 1/2" clearance.

Cool....
I don't have any Cat ... so I guess I don't have to worry about that at all... so how do you find them? Did you find a big difference in handling?

Also... how hard were they to put in? Did you have to do any drilling, etc? etc?

Since you don't have cats it should be a snap but you do drill into the subframes in front and in the rear just forward of the lower control arm frame mount, and the control arm bolt installs through the aft SFC mount, and you drill into the floor pan. Because of the slight contours in the floor pan and the SFCs are straight square stock I used large cad plated washers I believe 7/16 bolt size to shim the floor pan otherwise you will pull the floor pan (bend it) down to the SFC. I did not like this so I shimmed it. I will be welding them in for peace of mind. They are good structurally and I did feel the car is tighter. With the car jacked up you can open and close the doors with no alignment problems and they sound like closing a safe, much tighter. I do recommend them. The welding is up to you, but since I race my Z I believe it's added insurance.

Drill into the floor pan??!?
Are you saying that I have to drill a hole through my floor? Hummm...not sure if I want to be drilling down through my floor... do you put bolts through the floor?
I think I am confused.... do you drill holes through the SFC's, the chassis, or both?

The SFCs come pre drilled you use them as a template. You're really not going to hurt any thing by drilling into the floor but you could just attach at the ends with bolts and weld to the floor pan but either way it needs to be attached to the floor pan to tie the structure together. I'm going to weld the SFCs at the ends and at 6" intervals along the floorpan.
