Vortec heads with regular bolt pattern??

I was told just the other day that GM makes a vortec head with a regular intake bolt pattern so I could use them with a regular performer RPM intake instead of having to buy the performer RPM vortec intake! Anybody heard anything about this and know what the price is??

------------------
1986 Trans AM
305 TPI
200,000+ miles (speedo/odometer non-funtional! Odometer reads 142,000)
4 Wheel Discs
9 bolt Borg Warner Rear (2.73's....oh joy) :P
Completely Stock
Soon to upgrade to a 350 converted from TPI to Carb, Edelbrock 750CFM Carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake, Headman Shorty Headers, Some sort of ported heads (undecided), XE268 Cam, Moroso HEI ignition kit with external MSD Blaster II Coil and an MSD 6-AL Box!!
Current project: Keeping my 305 running until I get my income tax returns!

GM doesn't make the heads with the old bolt pattern. If you want them, you have to get them through a Performance Parts dealer like Jim Pace for like $50 more. I wouldnt recommend gettin the heads with the old style pattern, drilling them for old style intakes puts the bolts real close to the ports. Id just get the Vortec-specific Edelbrock intake, I hear it performs good and its not much more than the regular intake

You can't use the performer intake even if you get the drilled heads. There isn't enough material to seal the intake ports. You have to run the Perf. RPM or the Vic Jr.

Edelbrock makes a performer intake for vortec heads, so get that one. You,ll find it in summit or jegs catalog or on their web site.www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com There about 170.00 bucks I think. The summit part # is EDL-2116 and jegs is 350-2116 check them out.
