c4 brakes
Im ordering Ed Millers c4 kit soon so I will have some feedback and plenty of pics to post, for $600 you can't beat this deal for dual piston caliper 12" rotors. Its the same as the baer sport kit, for a lot less. You even get $50 back when you send in your old spindles, so its only $550. More soon

Was it the setup on my car? I saw you, but did not have time to stop by and talk.
Yes. They are modified stock used spindles.

Sorry I missed you Chris, I wanted to see how everything went after the stud problems we had and see it on the car. Glad to know it worked out.
Nice to meet you too, Mark. I've been wanting to see your car for a long time and finally got to. I had fun and tried to make it back up on Sunday but just couldn't fit it in....damn. Oh well, next spring! I also got to meet Abubaca, Nate, and a few others. That damn show is getting HUGE!

Also, just curious if I can use stock lug nuts with the setup or if I have to go to an open ended lug...the pic shows an open ended lug...
Thanks,

kit installed
Here are some pics of my c4 brakes, rebuilt rear calipers and the rest of my suspension. Its been raining here for a while so thats why you see rust in the pics. Ed was great to deal with, always goin out of his way to make you happy. Thanks Ed for all the help. He has instructions and everything with the kit. I haven't tried them yet because Im waiting on another 1le valve but they'll kick ***.

c4's
Yeah, the c4's feel real good. Its only been done for two days, but so far they feel a lot better than stock. I bled them with the phoenix injector and put a 1le prop. valve in. I'll have to try some more panic stops, I had em smokin the first one! I wish I had some back brakes that could hold my axles from spinning. Im putting on my bumpsteer kit soon so I'll have some info on that too. Dal at vanderveer (1le prop. valve) is great to deal with also going out of his way for the customer as well, thanks.

bumpsteer
The baer bumpsteer tie rod ends work great. I have eibachs and definetly noticed a big difference in steering with all the spacers on! I got them from scoggin dickey and they sent me the right ones! Actually there was someone on the boards who received the kit for the newer camaros instead of the right one. I was told that it was because of a part number change and that it wouldn't happen to me and it didn't. Next to come is the alloy specialties strut mounts, they should be here next week. I'll put some pics up when I install them. Im sure these mounts will get rid of the vibrations on the highway!

Looks nice with the red car. What's the deal with your back brakes? Why aren't they holding? They are the good PBR brakes so I curious as to why they aren't working for ya?

rear pbr
Well from what I've read, none of the rear pbr's stop the wheels from turning while the car is jacked up and put in gear. Mine are freshly rebuilt and won't hold the rotors from turning with the wheels off, I had to put the emergencies on just to stop them all the way. Now with the cars weight on them and the fronts locked, they hold the car. I've read that in order to get them to stop an adjustable prop. valve is needed. I thought that the 1le valve would work, but It doesn't. Oh well the c4's are great and everything is in perfect working order. Ed you did a rear end swap and got the pbr's right? Did you try jacking up the rear and taking the wheels off then putting it in gear and stopping? I guess the right amount of pressure back there would help a lot, I might just have to get that adjustable valve.

That's why I was asking. Yes, I swapped from an '88 disc rear to an '89 PBR disc rear, rebuilt the calipers, and mine work great. They will stop the rear when the car is off the ground. It just sounded wied to me, especially that you rebuilt them too.

pbr
well I can't exactly remember now if I had the 1le valve in when I tested so I will try again but the line pressure and the rotor thickness are the only things I can think of that would cause the slipping, more later

prop valve
Well I just tested the iroc and the rear brakes will stop and hold the rear tires good. So the 1le prop. valve and probably the rebuild is what is needed to fix pbr rear brakes! I have done some full braking with the c4's and these brakes are great! I can slam on the brakes and stop quick and solidly now and the brakes do not fade! I highly recomend upgrading the stock brakes, Its really worth the money for safety!

1le's
for the 1le's I've read that you have to change the brake lines, with the c4's I reused my steel lines. They are both dual piston calipers so the main difference is the price. You must use the 1le proportion valve with both unless you already have one. The c4's are $550 and I think the 1le kit is close to $1000. Performance wise Im sure they are the same, I know the c4's are 12" rotors and I think the 1le's are too. Im probably forgeting some things but the price is the main difference. I would add c4's to any camaro, they should've had these brakes from the factory. I definetly would change the prop. valve to 1le or mod your old one with 4 wheel discs to get the rear calipers to actually stop the wheels from turning

Spdfrk, you still running a stock steel driveshaft? I had a vibration around 80 MPH also...switched to a 4th gen LS1 aluminum shaft and it went bye-bye.

Ed, I must say you have done a lot of work!!
What about this c4 HD kit? who makes that? I think ill worry about improving my front brakes after i find a rear end that had disks. This is all very good info and Im glad a lot of people are happy with the prodcuct.

vibration
yeah, get an aluminum driveshaft also, that helped me as well. I still have a slight vibration but it is the motor. I have 133,000 on the stock motor so once I rebuild it, it will be smooth. the strut mounts got rid of the front end vibration I had and the aluminum drive shaft got rid of that vibration, so it all adds up sometimes.
Here is a pic of my 4th gen drive shaft

Unless someone knows something I don't, 13" HDs won't work for this upgrade.
Spdfrk, keep you eyes open for deals...I got my alum D/S for $70 SHIPPED.

The '88 and older rears have the iron Moraine calipers with the screw type emergency brake operator that is prone to freezing up over the years. Unless you rebuild them, they won't work right. The '89 and up disc rears have the PBR caliper-equipped brakes and also move up to a 12" rear rotor. Here's a shot of the two side by side, taken during my swap....
Actually, just look here:

Thinking im heading this way on a frt brake upgrade very shortly :-) cheap and reliable and easy to find parts, the best part lol
But, how about some people who use this setup clue us in as to how its working .. I would imagine its way better than the stock 10.5's
Please help me out and post your experiences so far

That wheel looks to be a rear GTA wheel. Would the fronts need to be swapped for the rears for adequate clearance? I'm looking at performing this upgrade on my Formula after the first of the year and would like to avoid any surprises, especially since I run fronts at all four corners.
