Hey guys, I know these guys are sponsers of the board and all but I was very dissapointed with the lack of response from these guys. I sent in a request back on the 7th of May...
No one bothered to get back to me... not even to say that they weren't interested in selling me that bracket. I've looked on Ebay and at GM dealerships and those things were selling for $25-40 depending on the shape and condition. I understand that this is a small part but it's still dissapointing especially since I was in a hurry. I ended up going to a U-Pull-It salvage yard and wasting 2 hours of my day to get the part I needed.
I have a bunch more parts I need but I guess I know where I won't be going...

Good afternoon,
I’m in the process of installing a BMR torque arm on my 84 Camaro with a 700R4 and I need the newer 85-02 Clamshell mount. I have the bushing that I need but apparently they changed styles from 84 to 85… Again, this is for a 700R4 Auto where the torque arm mounts to it. Also, I’m looking to race the car Saturday night so if there is a possibility of getting one of these fairly quickly that would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Wow, I have had nothing but good luck with Hawks....even got my hood in 3 days...talk about a fast order. But they never e-mail me about my order or things I ask so....just letting you know there are others treated like this.
I will still go through Hawks as they are th second quickest company I have dealt with....besides Summit who has awesome same/1 day delivery. Actually...wy dont you ask Summit for whatever you need. Their policy is if we dont have it we can get it. Let them know your situation.

They get more e-mail than they know what to do with. Hell they get more calls than they can keep up with.
I suggest if you EVER need a part, especially time sensitive, you take the time to make the phone call. You might have to retry a few times due to the busy signal, but eventually you will get through.
I just called them yesterday, only took about 10 minutes worth of trying, and I got my answer immediatly. (I was calling about a rocker panel decal which said to call for availability on the site)

id never order anything from them, prices are outragous and service is garbage, website layout is horrible.
Hey guys! Jeni here at Hawk's. I am the new "chic" in sales and customer service. Wow! Thanks for the shout outs. We are infact extremely busy here these days. Hence, that would be why I am here. For the most part I do the majority of the e-mails now, with the exception of ratical performance upgrades and major restorations. I am committed to quick and concise replies and spend 90% of the day worked doing so. Nevertheless, we are continuing to see that no one is overlooked. Certainly, it is a difficult thing to try to please everyone all of the time, we do still attempt. If for any reason any of you are displeased, please call us direct. It is important for us to know this promptly to ensure problems are corrected and that in the future we serve you better.
ADV1...I do apologize, but your e-mail was not received. If you would call in and we will be glad to help you, if you are willing to allow us to do so. If for any reason there is a transmittal error or possible virus, our computers directly delete them and send us a flag that it has done so. Is this possible?
To ALL! We do appreciate our customers and look forward to working with you in the future times. Some exciting changes are going on here...for the better. Recently we installed a new five line phone system, all reps have voice mail, four of us have e-mail, myself and two other people have been added to full time staff. Bruce is taking into serious consideration all avenues to growing this business and overall keeping the mainstay happy with us. Again, we appreciate you all very much. Give us a call with any questions and or complaints. I look forward to talking to you!
Thanks
Jeni

I love hawks, no matter what people say. Always had good experiences with them and Bruce is a gentlemen to talk to.

I have had good dealings with them also and as said above both Bruce and Tim are great to talk to and willing to work with you. They are hard to get ahold of sometimes on the phone and my phone even cut them off one time and I was called back. I don't know how much more you could ask for.
I'm in australia and bought a ss hood & a aero wing, which were promptly shipped
and all my emails were answered quickly,so they seem to be pretty good overall.

Exactly, thats all you gotta do is call. Its always a quicker response that way then email. Ive found summit taking 2-3 days to respond to emails. Yet give them a call and your problem is solved in 10 mins. I think this is true with all companies.Originally Posted by StevenK

I had really good service shipping an aerowing to the UK, very helpful over the phone and did reply to e-mail promptly. The aerowing wasn't very good though.

Well i hope my order goes well im ordering a hood this weekend. As long as its at my front door by the 22nd and not broken ill be happy. Plus i noticed they only ask for $15 to box a hood other sites want like $40

I didnt know being busy was an excuse for poor customer service...but. Anyway I ordered a set of door panels. When they came I could not believe what I saw. I piece of material pulled over cardboard. Cheap cardboard. The holes were not cut out. What happens to material when its cut. Also it wasnt reinforced around the areas were you cut. Also no clips, nothing. Just a piece of material over cardboard. My door panels now are fibergalss. I email the boss and got a HA response. But my car was getting a engine installed so it was not here. I sealed them in the box and when my car got back I wrote down all the problems with the door panels and e mailed, never recieved reply. The panels are worthless. I would have been better of to get poster board and make my own panels. A Simon rating.....DREADFUL!

Jeni, spoke w/you through e-mail (and on the phone, I think), and dealt w/Tim when I ordered my Ram Air Hood 1. First, tell Tim thanks, his service was awesome. Second, I love the hood. If that was you on the phone, I finally got it to seat right. It was the headlight brackets, had to lower them about a half an inch....Originally Posted by hawksthirdgen

When the hood arrived, the delivery guys were HORRIBLE. Spent good money to get that hood shipped, and not only was the hood mishandled (I had to TELL THEM that the box was fragile, they apparently couldn't read), the box was OPEN. Staples weren't even in tact....
Extremely small chip in the front of the hood, and after I seen it, I almost went mid-evil on them (I KNOW it was their carelessness). Held it in, kept their tip, and just brought the hood in my garage. Please speak with those carriers, and definitely make Bruce aware of it. Sorry to hijack this thread, but strongly felt it needed to be said.....

Tell Tim I'll be ordering the notchback next week....

I called on a fuel level sending unit today and asked about next day air. the lady that i spoke to was rude and and would not give me a quote on the frieght. She told me that she would call me back and has not. I am extremely disappointed in the service and i am debating on even considering buying any thing else from them. This is pretty sad because I am getting ready to buy 2 new front fenders, a new nose piece, bumper cover, 1 door ground effect and a 4th gen spoiler as i am getting ready to paint the car. This would be a pretty big loss but i guess its just o-well. I need to find a place to order this stuff. any ideas would be great.
I have bought some stuff from Hawks and have had good service all the way prices where a little high but it was in good shape for used parts. Just give him a brake how many other people do you know who makes a full time job dealing with third gens???
getting back seems to be where they have problems, that and letting you know how much it will cost to ship (which is why I purchased some of spohn parts from spohn I was not going to see what shipping was after the charge came through on the card) if hawks reads this.... please just put a online shipping calculator on the site like spohn does
I had trouble in the past with hawks but recently I decided what the heck and I purchased a part from them and was VERY VERY pleased on how quick it was shipped and the part was just what they said...
I just sent a payment for a P/S pump so I hope it comes here just as fast
some well alot of the prices are high however every now and then they are cheaper and worth buying from so don't sell them short just yet.

I'm glad I never dealt with them, their prices are more then a little high, and there's no excuse for that. I can't believe they are too busy.
Slam! Okay, to 85silberbullet1, you hung up without giving me your phone number. Therefore, I had no way of calling you back to give you your shipping quote. You are most welcome to call back if you like, or not.
As far as Spohn shipments, he provides us with the shipping quotes and at times it is not instantaneous. Although, we all like instant gratification, it just in not always POSSIBLE, right? Certainly not in a business world.
The "too busy" that was not a direct quote and I said that we would like for you to call in with any complaint so that we may better serve you.
Again, we appreciate you all, and welcome your constructive critics.
How can anyone complain about anything they nothing about, first hand? The question answers itself, no?
Have a good one. Until next time........................Thanks Jeni

I just contacted Hawk's about a set of GTA seats that I bought off of e-bay about a shipping quote, Jeni answered the phone, asked if she could put me on hold and came back as she stated. Gave me the quote I needed and then answered some questions about the Hampton vinyl seat covers I'm interested in. All in all, a good experience with them.

I've placed a couple of orders with Hawks and had very good luck. That's usually the first place I look for cool thirdgen stuff.
With any vendor, I think you need to call rather than e-mail if you're in a hurry though. The phone is live communication and seems to take priority over e-mail. For example, I had a similar experience with TCI: Filled out an online form for torque converter recommendation... no response. Sent an e-mail... no response. Sent another e-mail... still nothing. Got frustrated and finally called them - They apologized saying they were totally swamped as racing season was beginning. Bottom line: When the phone rings, that's the priority. After that they catch up on their e-mail.

The letter that you sent me on Mar 31, 2007 had a plastic ziploc bag but no screws were in the bag or envelope. I am still choked that I talked to Bruce personally about this and I followed his instructions by emailing pics and telling him exactly what happened. He said that he would take care of my problem. I never received a phone call or email back.

Ive had great servive when I dealt with Hawks. I was ordering a 1984 T/A aero package door ground fx and rocker panel. I recieved them both within a few days and the parts are great! These are two hard parts to find for my car but they had them and the packing was good and the parts just looked great.

Im glad I found that out about the door panels, the site didnt show very many pictures and I almost ordered a set, but if its some cheap cardboard with fabric Im not about to pay 150 for them
Hey Justin, I have the quote and have had it, 138.88 for next day ouch!!!! I have no control over that pricing as it is an outsource shipping price. I apologize personally to you for not posting the price the other day on this site. Duh for me, right? If you will contact me, personally I will check some other shippers for you.
The bag with/without the screws....Andygta1, please call me....Jeni, I will help you and we will get you what you are/were missing. If you will atleast give me the one opportunity to see that you are taken care of. Thanks in advance.
Furthermore, I am glad to have the opportunity to work with you all. I Love My Job

Has anyone else ordered door panels from there and had problems? What kind of quality are the upholstery sets?

I've actually bought most of my parts from them and actually a car as well and have had no problems. Bruce is a #1 guy and very easy to talk to. There upolestery sets are awesome as I have one in my car.

Just got back from picking up a set of GTA seats and an entire roof to replaced the one with the C&C tops in the car now. Bruce was awesome to deal with, and Jeni had me hooked up with the seats within 5 min of me being there. Thanks again for the help, I will definatly deal with him again.

I have a question and it is not my intention to "slam" anyone, I am new to F-bodies and just confused. I have read many places on this site that the air dams/air baffles on F-bodies are there to direct air to the cooling system and should not be removed. It is turning into a long story but the short version is that Bruce is telling me that it is ok to remove the upper air baffle/air dam to install 2 ram air boxes in my `88 Iroc and to leave it out and that my car will not run hot or overheat. What gives?
Member
If you are talking about the air dam in front of the radiator and behind the nosecone that is under your air cleaners I have removed them on 3 cars and have not had any overheating problems. There is one under the car, bolted to the bottom rad support I think and if you take that one off then your car will overheat. I have the ram air tunnels you are talking about in my car now. If you are worried about it you could probably make a cut out for the ram air tunnels to fit through.

i just got the right and left fender ground effects no problem. actually i had one problem didnt know they were a gm part if i would have known that i would have got them at the chevy house here, but other than that they look great.

Havent been here in a few weeks. WOW, glad to see they now have a new voice mail service. I love taking time to call someone for a time sensitive matter and going to voice mail. As an update the door panels are still in my garage gathering dust. One of the board members wanted to buy then but I couldnt do that to him. I have talked to Bruce and e mailed him in the past. He is proably a good guy, but, when you sell cheap crap it falls on him, not the mfg. He got my money. I have read the sail panels are the same way.
Member
I have door panels from Hawks and they look great. Not sure what your prob is buddy. Most of my car is hawks and it all has been great. If you can find a better place then you tell me.
Well, like you'll find with ANY business, nothing (or no ONE) is perfect. If you've had an issue with Hawk's then I understand why you'd be frustrated. That being said, the whole point of this "vendor feedback" forum is so people can make an educated decision on who they do business with. ...and IF you read this forum, you'll find that probably 99% of the people who deal with Hawk's are happy.
As for prices, no one is forcing you to do business, and "most" of us know what stuff is worth, so it's not like we don't know better. Yeah, they're a little high on a lot of stuff, but any small specialty business is going to be like that. Most of the time, the "one stop shop" convenience is worth it to me. On occasion, I've gone other places. It is what it is.
While I was doing my interior resto, I bought just about everything from them. I was very concerned about matching my two tone OE Beechwood interior, and bruce said he'd match his upholstery kit as close as he could with a OE Beechwood car on the lot, THEN send me the samples for confirmation. That customer service pretty much hooked me, but I've had similar good experiences several times since then.
.....actually now that I think about it, it's been awhile since I bought anything from them. Hmmmmmm, what can I buy?!?!?!

The ONLY prob I have is I have a set of door panels I would not use on my car. They were good enough for your car.
If I was 16 and it was my first car maybe. But I am not buying pricing and expect fiberglass, not cardboard. What happens with high humidity of moisture.

BTW, I purchased the carpet set and was happy. Shipping was great. I just have issue with the door panels. In fact, as I said(i think) Hawks seemed to be a good guy, BUT the panels are crap. They might be ok for your cars, but............ The fact that it said direct replacement and they have diffrent cat numbers, led me to believe they are custom design, not a piece of cardboard with dotted lines to cut out. My door panels are fiberglass. Cardboard will warp with humidity and ruin if wet. I have t tops so that is a possibility. No clips on the back, no where to mount clips ect ect ect.
Supreme Member
The door panels I saw that he had for sale were made of a heavy board material and had all of the slots for the clips to mount the door panels to the car, plus the holes to mount the black plastic pieces on the top to mount to as well. I would call Bruce and see what's going on.
My factory doorpanels were some sort of cardboard/fiberboard, NOT fiberglass. The ones I got from bruce were pretty darn similar, although I didn't do a side by side comparison. I would agree they appear to be a heavy cardboard. They look fantastic to me, and the judges that have awarded me my giant stack of trophies have agreed as well. No warping of any kind. No moisture issues.
....but if you were told fiberglass and they're not, then you need to make a phone call.

I know I've always received great service from them. Many times I've spoke to BJ and have had all my calls returned if needed so no complaints here.

Jeni and Bruce are the greatest! They will take care of you and see to it that you get what you need or answer your questions.

well i finally recieved my sending unit (first call was 06/05/07 and part was ordered 06/07/07 it is now 06/20/07) i dealt with BJ who was exceptionaly nice. I am not real sure how i feel about the situation. How would you guys feel about a 2 week wait time with your car on jack stands and the rear hanging out of it? Just want some opinions.
Supreme Member
Well, I can say that while I was there I saw BJ, Jeni, Bruce, one other person in the office and two other people that pull parts, strip cars etc etc. There were also several people there buying parts on top of what I was picking up. Given that he probably had to catch up from being at G11, and getting ready for Carslile show 2 weeks is probably a good turnaround, especially with the amount of business he gets. He, BJ and Jeni were on the phone alot with people calling about parts and availability as well, it's not like he just sits around doing nothing.
Member
I've had my ups and downs with Hawks but at the same time they have always made good on everything I've ever bought. I had a recent problem where they sent me 2 driver side rear calipers instead of a driver and passenger and they turned around and got my situation taken care of in about 2 weeks and that included me shipping back the caliper, then having to have a new one powder coated and them shipping it back. I've mostly dealt with Jeni and I have to say she is one of the most polite and helpfull people I have ever dealt with!
Good afternoon all! Rideon1200, please call in and talk with Bruce, if nothing else. It may be possible to let you return them if you are that unhappy with product. At the same time or another call in and ask for me and I will do my best to locate you exact replicas of the original panels, like you say your panels are made out of, give us the opportunity atleast
Thanks Jeni

Do yourself a favor and make the phone call.

I have dealt with them a number of times, they get huge amounts of email and constant phone calls, so expect it to take a few days to get a response to emails at best. Better yet, keep calling, when you get through, they will take care of whatever you need or whatever problem you have. They are good people and have great products at fair prices, so they are always busy, you just have to put in a little more effort to make sure and talk to someone.
