Summit Racing, and Holley

Summit, i have no quarrels with. I got a slave cylinder from them after my NAPA ones (4 to be exact) blew out. At $50 for a plastic NAPA, and $25 for an aluminum slave, I think it's obvious who has the better deal. However on the 4th of March, i figured it was time for a new intake for my new motor.

I wanted the HSR. So, I called up Summit, gave them my part number and began the waiting. I knew they were a "made to order" deal so i figured i'd tie up some loose ends on my block. After the first little "backorder" note, i called up Summit to see what's what. When the kit was ordered it was put on "stock order" so I called up Holley. 30 minutes on hold my call was finally answered. They told me that they only ship one stock order a month and build it the last week of the month.

So what happens if they have to wait for a part? Yup better luck next month.

Well, back to Summit. Had them switch it to a drop ship. So Holley must have decided vacation time was over. After a week, week and a half, i had my kit.

You all could just imagine my joy when Santa in a brown uniform dropped off my big "box o' parts"

Untill I opened it.

I had ordered a polished finished manifold with 24lb Injectors, and a wide Band O2.

I got a natural finish manifold with 30 lb and a narrow band O2. Oh and the upper plenium was just mauled from poor packing

I dunno, maybe somebody got their numbers mixed up between 91403211, and 91505211.

That took the cake, after a month of waiting, a million phone calls and a bunch of jerking me around I was FURIOUS. I skipped Summit and went straight for the people at Holley's throats. One of the times the lady told me that I needed to "stop yelling" to which I replied "If I were yelling, you wouldn't need the phone to hear me" Back over to Summit. Had them pick it up, take it back to Holley and make them express ship me the right one. That took another 2 and a half weeks.

So total cost for my HSR:
$3,270
2 months
and about another $100 on my phone bill

Moral of the story...

Big purchaces get drop shipped right away, and Holly needs to have a manditory number identification class for new employees.
