Shipping your thirdgen?

I've purchased a thirdgen from an individual and I called Express Auto Transport at the recommendation of the seller. I have to say it's probably the worst service I've ever received. I placed my order with them in early December so that my car would be here when I got back from Afghanistan. To make a long and complicated story short, the delivery date was Jan. 21st and as of right now they STILL do not even have a transport assigned to get my car. Needless to say I'm in the process of hiring another transport company as I write this post, just wanted to let you guys know if you plan on shipping your thirdgen, do not use Express Auto Transport!! If I find a good company that gets my new baby to me I'll throw a new post up.

http://findahauler.com/

I've used the above site twice to ship boats (one 34' and one 21') and by having them bid to win my business I have done well. They have shippers for just about everything there. I've only used them for boats.

A friend on this site tried using them but did not receive a low enough bid, however.

YMMV.

Thanks for your service!

Re: Shipping your thirdgen?

Can anyone recomend some good companies to use for shipping cars? I'm moving from NC to Houston next fall and will need to ship my GTA. I've looked at several companies but I haven't talked to anyone who has actually used them.

Re: Shipping your thirdgen?

It wouldn't hurt to make a post on the site I posted with the two locations and time frame. Then when you start getting bids you can check on the site to see their feedback. That's just my and how I used them.

Best wishes.

The only thing I didnt like about that site is you can not contact the person to talk to before you accept the bid.

I don't know if they changed the way you do it, but when I last did it I posted my ad requesting a move (in my case the Scarab III) from Ohio to Virginia and left my email and my phone number. I received bid after bid where I had multiple conversations with before ever accepting one. I ended up accepting one that was run by retired US Military Vets in Norfolk for a steal. YMMV, of course, but unless they changed it (and maybe they did) you can converse with them as much as you want before accepting the bid.

Wish I had your Florida weather and water for my Scarab, TPl383, I bet it's a blast (it's 22 degrees here tonight). But, man is the offshore performance boating insurance expensive down there!!!! Especially if you admit that you are going to do Poker Runs.

Best wishes to you all.

Oh, yeah, Birdstheword909...DRI rules! LOL.

I've dealt with the local guys before, and they're very professional. Its also transported by train, so its quite reliable...and isnt putting the fate of your car in the hands of one trucker.
