Dealings w/ www.1aauto.com

Well I bought a complete carpet kit from them for my '86 Firebird and man it fits like a charm and looks damn good. They were very prompt and helped me w/ all of my needs and questions that I had. It was definetely worth it to switch from Gray to Black caarpet plus it added that new car smell. I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I recommend them to anyone.

I need new weatherstripping and was thinking of getting it from them. The price seems pretty reasonable, $150 for all new seals. I may get new carpet soon also. How much did they charge you to ship the carpet? Also, how much cutting/trimming was required?

Thanks
Steve

The exact total was $234 for the entire carpet kit. That obviously includes front to rear. The only triming that I had to do was to cut the piece on the passenger side that tucks underneath the radio pod housing so you can re-mount the housing and get everything to fit again. Everything else was a perfect fit. The only thing that you have to do is obviously cut the holes out for your seatbelts and seat bolts. And if you decide to keep your rear seats then the section that the rear seat bolts back in the metal panels.
To honest w/ you about the weather stripping their price seams a little high for me. Go through Year One. They have a web page www.nextgenparts.com that is totally dedicated to our 3rd gen F-bodies. They have killer prices. Hope I helped ya.

Sorry bro I got my F-body vendors mixed up. It is Classic Industries that has the cheap and killer prices for the weather stripping. Now that I have cleared that, I feel better now.

The website for Classic Industries is http://www.classicindustries.com/ But their website kinda sucks. It doesn't have a real "online catalog". They make you "buy" one, I hate places that do that. I haven't got one yet. Does anyone know how much their weatherstripping stuff is exactly? I need the roof rail seals, the door seals and the outside glass seals (run outside along the window channel). I don't have T-Tops, just a regular roof.

Thanks
Steve

You know, YearOne is not to far from me here in Atlanta, and I am not quite sure where there inventory comes from, but you can get weatherstripping from a place here as well that will ship and cost a lot less than YearOne.
The place is called Parts Distrubitor Inc. They sell only GM parts. If you want give them a call and ask for Rodger or Greg, the number is 770-963-5103. Do not talk to Rita, she tends to forget in placing her orders at the end of the day.
I haven't bought a damm thing from Chevrolet dearlship since a friend of mine told me about them. Good place for getting dearler only items.

just something to think about.

They are based in my town, so i've been to their facility. It is a top notch place, very orderly... They even let you pick it up to save on shipping! You should see some of the cars the employees have!

I actually bought new front parking lights from there, cars getting painted and the old parking lights are all fogged up and yellow. The new lights look great and were at a reasonable price as well. They were GM too.

is this the company your talking about? did you buy it on ebay as well? i'm looking for a few cheap sets of carpet but i'd like to get the quality of ACC. ACC charges $240 for the front and rear carpet. just weighing the options.

I have mixed opinions about them.
I have purchased items that were nothing but junk, and at the same time, other items that fit my purpose.
Junk - electrical components like turn signal switch lever - The first time I went to use the cruise control the bloody button popped out of the assembly
O.K. - weather strip - I purchased door weather strip, fit almost perfect and was 1/3 of the cost GM wanted for OEM replacements.
If you are looking for a quality part, I don't recommend them, If you need something just 'do the trick' - then I would recommend them.
Just my

well i just got off the phone with ACC. they admitted to charging 2/3rds more then what you can get their carpet through a dealer for. A dealer being just like the link above on ebay.

this i am guessing has changed as when i last bought carpet from them direct in 2002 i paid only 290 for my complete kit. which is now $650 direct through them? this is ashame but now you know..

I'm glad to hear that people are having good luck with 1AAuto. I started working there about a month ago and from what i've held in my hands and seen first hand, the products are top notch. Most are name brand without the name brand price. if anyone has any questions, feel free to get in contact me. I'm always around to help out.

MIKE HARVEY - how does the backing of the replacement carpet compare the the stock piece you pulled out? Is the jute backing just as thick? Is there the 1/8" rubber backing to the carpet? Just curious of the quality. Is it ACC carpet? I can't be too picky, anything will be better than my balding stock stuff.

(now that I'm not at work)

Our carpet is made by ACC. you order it, we send the order to them, they ship it to you. there are standard backings and mass backings (thicker, rubber-ish backing). It also comes with the jute backing as well. I've got about 50+ colors available, so we can match quite a bit of OEM colors.

The weatherstripping is also a big name, quality weatherstripping. If anyone has bought it before, they can let you know who the maker is.

Technically, we dont like to advertise our manufacturers, but we do stand behind our product (ex is the 10-15 year warrenty we give for the weatherstripping).

As for any other product issues, we stand behind our stuff. Most of our parts come from the same places as the bigger parts stores but not quite the same price markup. We also sell to other companies that some of you may have dealt with before.

Now I'm not trying to advertise, and i've been on this board for a while, so I didnt just join to sell a product or a company. I just happen to have started working here and was happy to see some word of mouth about (what i believe is) a good company. Think of me more of a liason. If you got any questions about our stuff, please pm me or email me, i can also give you my direct phone line if you would like. Let me give back a bit to a community that has helped me countless times in the past.

Oh, and if you want to save a few more bucks on your order, mention that you found the item on one of our ebay auctions. they tend to be a little cheaper than through our website
