TPIS

I just wanted to get some feed back here with anyone who has used them recently. It's for a friend.
He wanted to purchase a miniram Oct 2019. Called them up and was told they are in production. Gave credit card info and was told a timeframe of weeks to one month. Well 1 month goes by nothing. A call is made and is told they are finishing them up they will ship by Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving comes and nothing. Called and was told a few more weeks. They come and go nothing. Calls again and is told by Christmas, as they are finishing them up. Christmas comes and goes nothing. So in this whole time TPIS charges my friends card, in Oct 2019. So finally in Jan 2020 he calls and is told they are having problems with the foundry. He was never told this throughout the whole ordeal. They said they finally figured it out and will be shipping in 3 weeks. Right after this on their Facebook page they post they got them in and are shipping them out. Totally different story. He requested his money back and was told he cannot get the card refunded as its past the 90 days. So he requests a refund by check. TPIS offeres to sell him the stealth ram because they are Holley dealers. He agrees. That was 3 weeks ago and still nothing has arrived. My friend is not upset with the fact they may have issues at the foundry, it's the fact they charged his card and strung him along with excuse after excuse promising shipment and never once mentioning casting issues until when he asked for his money back. If they would have been upfront from the beginning he would have waited. But telling him one thing then posting something totally different on their Facebook page the very next day is concerning. Any feedback would be good. Thanks

Re: TPIS

I feel your pain. I bought some large tube runners from Arizona speed and Marine in late August they did not come till Just after New year's. When I ordered them they told me it would be a couple of months at least before I got them. In my case not a big deal the new runners were cheaper than the used ones I could find. Also I was not planning to install them till this spring.

I think the biggest challenge is the problem of it being I very small production run. Thus it keeps getting pushed back. The challenge is that TPIS has to depend on a supplier to get them the casting to work from.
That's not a great comforting answer but is probably the true answer.

Re: TPIS

Not too surprising. TPIS is basically a mom & pop company stuck in the past. Their name alone says they date back to the days of mailing an order and waiting 4-6 weeks for delivery. Maybe they shipped it when they said it'd go out, but the train was robbed, or the stage coach got ambushed in hostile indian country. Really it's shocking they're even still in business at all.

Re: TPIS

Your friend's experience is, unfortunately, all too common in this era of the " soak 'em for anything we can" school of online business dealings. From small companies like TPIS to the largest online auto sales companies, buyers must be doubly careful in choosing from whom we buy products.

Some of the 'for sale' ads from various auto dealers that get posted on this site, and the obviously underhanded way third gens (and all other cars, as well) get (mis)represented make me smh. And it seems that more and more of these gonifs get away with fleecing unsuspecting customers.

At least the members of this site, when considering any third-gen-related purchase, have the other members here with whom to confer concerning the quality/reliability of any seller---providing the buyer first does his due diligence in searching/asking before clicking on "Add To Cart."

As always, Caveat Emptor.

Re: TPIS

I just dont agree with TPIS buisness dealings. If you want a Miniram you have no choice but to use them to aquire one. The whole ordeal from charging the card under false pretense really doesnt sit well with him or me. If they just would have said , "Hey were having issues with the foundry it is going to take much longer than we thought". I bet he would have been 100% fine with it and if he told me that I would have agreed. They were probably having an issue and just didnt tell anyone for whatever reason. But just kept taking orders and promising x amount of weeks turn around. That turned into 3 months, now going on 4 months. He is actually nervous now he may never see his money or a stealth ram. Not saying they are, but say they just closed up shop. All these people would be out of luck and money. 3 weeks ago he said instead of sending my buddy a check back to order the stealth ram on his own, Jim at TPIS would order it and send it to him. What a full of **** statement. That was 3 weeks ago. I or anyone here can call Summit,Jegs or even call Holley direct and get one in 3 days or week max. What an awful experience dealing with TPIS. Everything about it just doesnt make sense. Half the time when he called he was either told they would call back or no one answers the phone. And half the time no one ever called back. Really feel bad for my buddy. 4 kids, mortgage, he has been saving for a long time to buy this and this happens. Too bad TPIS is not on this board. Clear this mess up and save face. Just be truthful and honest here. Not looking to hear more excuses.

Re: TPIS

I am having the EXACT same issue, I mean EXACTLY to the last word.... Slow or never return emails, broken "ship by" dates, I ordered mine The first of October 2020, STILL have not gotten it.. They have the same excuses as stated above!!! Just a couple more weeks... Fuel rails are anodizing and water necks are being finished.... Blah...Blah..Blah..!!!! Looks like a winter project is turning into a summer project!!! rebuilt the whole engine, just sitting in the garage with a garbage bag over the engine waiting on the intake!!!

Re: TPIS

Just adding to this thread about TPIS, I ordered some gaskets, stated in stock, would be about a week. 1 month later nothing. Very frustrated that I can't get a hold of them, as it states on the website we don't monitor emails or phone messages, well they don't answer the phone either.
Just needed some large runner gaskets.

Re: TPIS

Yeah, it's gotten to the point where if I can't get something from Summit or Rock Auto, I just wont buy it. I don't trust small online retailers anymore. Been burned one too many times.

I've never been burned by Rock Auto and when Summit goofs up (although rarely), they make it right.

Ebay too sometimes since at least there's a way to appeal a problem to a higher authority.

Re: TPIS

Arizona Speed & Marine customer service is not great either, I called about getting another set of gaskets after buying new runners a few years back and they had no interest in helping. Guy on the phone acted like he was doing me a courtesy answering the call...The mr. gasket 146 fit the bill nicely though and Summit was easy to deal with as always.

Re: TPIS

I actually got gaskets quickly from AS&M after TPIS charged my card and never sent anything. I called and emailed TPIS multiple times before finally calling my credit card company to do a charge-back.

Re: TPIS

I guess sometimes it just matters who you get at these small companies, as I ordered a EGR block off plate and TB cover from TPIS and had no issues with the transaction and had fast shipping.
