HSR problems
I am having some issues with installing my HSR. When I went to install my distributor, my rotor placement was off by 90*. It won't fit where I had originally marked it but it fit fine when I turn it 90*. The housing is just fine. The car has not moved an inch since I started the installation. Is there anything that could have caused this or any way to fix it? Also, where could I find fittings for connecting the hoses that were on the stock TPI to the HSR? Thanks.

Sounds like the oil pump shaft moved a bit. No biggie, just get a long flathead screwdriver and turn the shaft til it engages the distributor where you marked it.
You should be able to find fittings at any good hardware store. I got mine at Home Depot.

Well, I got everything hooked up, no leaks anywhere, and it won't start. It's cranking but will not fire. I had this same problem about 5 months ago and it was the module. Is it possible that it could be the same problem? Also, my car is a 91 Formula L98, so I don't know if I have the large cap dist. or the small cap one. It fits behind it, so I must have the small one. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Being a 91, you have what's called a "small cap" (provided it hasn't been changed out and is still computer controlled)

That's what I thought. I replaced the module and it is still not starting. It ran just fine before the swap, but now it won't turn over at all. The distributor is in the exact same position it had started in, so I don't think the timing is off. I am completely dumbfounded.

If it wont turn over at all now I would check the battery first. If you get it turning over again check plug wires for spark. Then check the fuel pressure. If you have all that find a way to check if the injectors are firing. If you have all that then look at timing being off. Good Luck

I've got fuel pressure and the battery is hooked up, but it seems that I am not getting spark. I did not have any problems before I installed the HSR. Is it possible that not having some tubes not hooked up will cause it to not start? Thanks for the help so far.

Check the coil. Check to see if all of the wiring to the distributor is hooked up. Make sure none of the wires got pinched anywhere during the install of your intake. I sounds unlikely but it happens. I think there are ways to test the coil and the module. If you arent getting spark I would start here.

Pull the number one spark plug and have a friend bump the motor over slowly while you put your finger over the hole. When you feel compression (air comming out) signal to your friend to stop bumping. Next look at the TDC mark on the balancer. If its close to the zero mark on the tab you are ok, if its off by a bit you cranked too much and need to manually line it up by turning the motor over by hand. When the mark on the balancer is lined up with the zero on the tab pull the cap off the dizzy. Notice where the rotor is pointed. It should be pointed directly at the number one terminal on the cap. If its not then you need to pull the dizzy up and line up the rotor to the number one terminal. This should get the timing close enough to start the engine.
